Continuation of This Thread. . . .

We are 8 days out from TP day.

What a week! You can just imagine the ups and more ups and a few minor downs.
What a week! Did I just say that. . . . I am still amazed at the awesomeness of it all.

I arrived here Thursday around noon after 2154 miles. Bro In Law came with to share the driving.

Erin went home (new temp apt actually 9-10 blocks away from Cedars) on Thursday. She (and WE were) was excited about that.

Note: If there is one thing this area knows how to do, that would be pack as many people as possible into one zip code. Every square inch is seemingly accounted for.

Friday morning brought us back to Cedars through the ER. Seems the necessary bodily functions didn't want to work right due to meds and surgery and new body parts, ect.

Kidney still seems to be working overtime. Creatinine staying around 1.0 (perfect).

We are still here (Cedars) today, catheter is out and things are getting back to normal. . . . getting some magnesium via IV today. It just takes awhile to get everything adjusted.

We are hopeful to get out, either this PM or Sunday AM.

Still along way to go. . . . but so far, everything is great.

I will stay through this next week and Kathie will be staying ???? (We will owe Teresa BIG time. She is watching after the shop. She's not a designer, but has been with us even through the first TP over 15 years ago)

THANKS to you all for thoughts and prayers.

She got out and had a craving for some Chinese. . . .
Doc said her sodium was low anyway.

Erin's Apt is just off of Melrose. This place is hop'in. Every other car is a Mercedes, Porche, BMW or Lexus. . . . with a Bently and Maserati thrown in there once and a while.

Have to be carefull about saying y'all. I got a "HUH?" today. I think I confused them, my NYC t-shirt and a southern accent just didn't mix.

Awesome news Glenn.... God's blessings are cool huh!

Ya'll have a good day..... ;)

2 weeks out . . . . . .

WOW! is still the word in our family.

It has been 2 of the best weeks of my life!

Erin is doing great. Still recovering, still a little weak (tiring easily), but WOW is all I have to say.

Her Creatinine is around 1.2, she was shy to share that with other transplant patients in the waiting room the other day. A couple has their kidney's a month and were bragging about their 2.4 and 3.5 numbers.

I am sitting a Mile High right now on a stop over on my way home.

Kathie will be staying as long as needed. The shop is doing so well, that Kathie says she is just going to stay in LA.

We were impressed with LA. . . . mostly the weather. The drive along Mulholland Drive is breath taking.

The ability to walk to access anything, is great. In other words, you better not take the car, unless you know there is parking.

Headed home. . . . to be home alone for awhile.

Thanks again for the prayers and nice words of encouragement.

Quick Update. . . .

4 weeks ago this morning Erin was given a new lease on life.

She is doing great. Still tires some, but seems to be slowly getting her strength back.

One problem, Erin and Kathie are homesick.

Erin has 2 months to go. They are slowly tapering off the heavy anti-rejection drugs. This will continue, I assume through the duration of her stay.

My heart goes out to the donor family, as they also had a 1 month memory to live through. I have found out who the donor was, (he was quite a young man who had a personality which impacted many people) although we have not communicated directly. A friend of theirs has acted as a go between. They do want to be in touch, but in their own time. I fully understand.

Glenn, what excellent news! May God continue to pour out His blessings on you and your dear family.

A young friend of the family got a call while on stage of a pageant 2 weeks ago. Got the call on sat. had to jump in the car that evening, got her new kidney sun. am. This is her 2nd, for some reason first failed her. God is good!!
In SC, kidney transplants are done in Charleston SC, about a 3 hour drive away. Take care, Ellen

So pleased for you all, and so glad things are going well. I dont know you well but you seem such a kind man and you deserve things to go good.

The family that donated have been so kind and my thoughts are with them also. I am sure they will feel better in time knowing that their loss was not totally in vein.

6 Weeks

Erin is still doing Great.

She is doing so well the Doc's say she will be able to come home in a couple weeks. This is a month earlier than expected.

Kathie is still there with her and will stay the duration. They will take their time coming home. We have several friends spread across the country and it will be good for them to have time to visit some.

I heard Cathy (CHR) had some visitors yesterday. Kathie and Erin went by Cathy's shop to visit.

They are home sick and Dad is VERY tired of the bachelor's life.

Erin and Kathie both look great! We had the delight of a visit from them yesterday afternoon. (I almost made Kathie jump behind the bench and knock out a few arrangements. ;) )

So excited to hear they'll get to head back to 'Bama in just a couple weeks. The Drs. at Cedars are truly amazing, as is your precious daughter whose spirit and smile lift an entire room. :)

We got passes from the promotion company for 'Love Happens' for an advanced screening tonight and I think Kathie & Erin are going to join 6 of us from here at the theater.

I know they're both home soon but I'm trying to get them pointed toward some not-to-be-missed spots (flower market, fashion district) while they're still in LA.
