I suppose I'm stuck with her...so I guess I'll keep her.

She had to cover for me the whole summer and it still isn't really over.

She is a peach.

John Denver also recorded this song on one of his albums. Nice job on your rendition, though.

Only problem is...I'm NOT a John Prine fan. I have also HAD to listen to him for the past flippin' HOUR!!!
Yea....well..... hopefully JB's not singing along.... that could be considered cruel and unusual punishment...:musical:

Me, too! It just does not pay to be nice to some people. Lesson learned.

It doesn't pay to be nice to people who are not nice to others.

Given his history on the board and his personal attacks on fellow posters (myself included) I don't understand why people continue to give validity to anything he says.

It's obviously come to my attention that this song was *not* an original, and I simply played on the recording. Here is the email from Jeannine, the singer, about the fact that while I recorded the guitar parts and thought it was one of her originals, it was, in fact, not.

oops! Yeah we just redid the musical composition on that one.... sorry. John Prine wrote it and he actually listened to my version and emailed me that he liked it! That was totally cool! I am working on the Fergie song, see if you can come up with a little bit different version of it I am thinking acoustic. Let me know if you can do that? I just sent of press kits to Sunfest WPB, and Strawberry Festival, working on the South FL fair but they may be booked already it is the end of Jan usually.

Thanks,

Jeannine

It would seem many of you have enjoyed your lambasting of my mistake about this song. I have only played with this band for 3 weeks now and am not familier with the Country music genre at all.

I am still proud of my guitar playing on this song...thanks to all FC members for all the constructive criticism.

Constructive, or not, we are guessing that you ARE NOT in the florist biz anymore.....in which case...
Opinions vary.....

Yes, Mikey, we are still part-timers and have several 5 figure weddings booked over the next 6 months, 3 or 4 holiday large corporate event scheduled, and 5 floral websites that collect full-value orders. As I said before, we partnered with another local florist 6 months ago and are very profitably using each other strengths to create the best @@@@ florist in Brevard country, Florida.

Although this is pretty off-topic, as I said before, my wife and I ended the shop for personal, relationship issues that had nothing at all to do with the business side of our shop.

If FC members deem to trivialize what we achieved and cast me/us into the pit of "loser" florists, that certainly is your prerogative and feel free to flame away...

Mark, I don't believe in trivializing anyone's efforts. I think you know that.

I guess some of us felt hoodwinked by the post that began this thread. I do thank you for clearing up the confusion though. Your music is an important part of who you are... keep doing what you enjoy and really are very good at.

Kind regards.

V

V...*YOU* felt hoodwinked?? Imagine my horror when Mark Anderson sent me a message telling me that this song that I just recorded with an "original" country band was actually a old cover song!

You guys were not the only ones I sent this to...I was so embarrassed by the whole ordeal that I almost quit the band. Jeannine our singer had to prove to me with 100% certainty that the rest of the songs that we did were "our"/her work...it's not that we won't do covers but after this I will make sure the origins of all material before making a total ass of myself.

Here is a link to our myspace page with a few more songs we have recently done. It's a far cry from HeadShot but so far our crowds have been a lot bigger (in more ways then one :)

Thanks for your kind words of support, V...this has been a humiliating experience on several levels.

It's a great arrangement and recording of a great song. You guys should be proud.

There was a local band that did a really rocking cover of it in the 80's and - right up until people here started talking about John Prine - I had assumed it was their original!

I really liked hearing the different take on the song Mark. It's also a great example of how music is so much more than just the words and the notes.

Well, it is a good sound, Mark. Having been a fan of country music since 9/11, I liked it. Good luck.

Great Cover!!!!!

I loved it. I have known that song since it came out, and that was a great cover. May I suggest, another one that would be great to cover would be...."Willin", written by a Texan, Towns Van Zandt. First time I heard it .....covered by a band called Lick Skillet, again in Texas. Later popularized by Linda Ronstadt. I believe your vocalist...will nail this one.

No matter what Two Bucks, that was a great cover and I'd be proud of it too.

All the best,
