1800Flowers "Premier Florist"

we were offered the same thing. With the promise of as much as we can handle. Didn't stay long enough to find out.

The contract we had as a premier guaranteed a number of orders and a fee that would be fluctuating according to how many we received, but as I stated we had a 90 day "escape clause" and glad we did. I do want to say this is not the first time we tried them, years ago we kept them for 60 days till they started theats and dropped them then too.

Have a friend that was a distribution center and he said that unless you are willing to increase to a mass production level there is no real money. He did and it nearly did him in.

They make a real good sales job. Three were at our store. I asked too many questions so 2 guys kept me busy while the deal closer snowed my husband. Watch out they really know how to spin the numbers.

So you have a substantial amount of sending?

That would mean you have a substantial amount of local base customers. Why do you need there incoming orders?

I don't necessarly go out of my way to re-ask but in this case I have too.

...I did average a $5-10K check monthly from them, but all the work was insane. ...

Would you believe at our peak for filling for 1-800, we were doing approx. 500 orders a month on average? Our checks would be 20-30k. But, the wholesaler bills would be near that. When 800 started introducing "fancy" container-driven designs is when we started losing money. We got out ALMOST too late...

What would you consider substantial amount of sending? We have our fair share, but nowhere close to the league of say the FTD top 100.

The extra incoming business, in our case could help profitability. I believe there is room for extra incoming where my design labor cost won't rise.

500 orders and 20-30K checks???

Those numbers surprise me. Was your average order over $80?

Ah go on! GO FOR IT!

Appears to me that, you're on the fence and chomping at the bit! So, I'd say GO FOR IT!

Then, and after you've almost lost your shirt, you can come back and post on FC that, the other folks who got suckered in, WERE RIGHT!, and you should've listened to them.

We have a NEW PREMIER MEMBER five miles south of us.

It's a KOREAN OWNED grocery store who couldn't cut it in the grocery business and so, he gutted out a portion of his grocery store and turned it into a FLOWERS shop. Even painted the word FLOWER on his outside awning and on his window.

BLOOMLINK signed him up in a heartbeat, and now, he's a PREMIER MEMBER! Ya gotta love it!

And YES, they only offer a LIMITED NUMBER of members in a very small market territory! All depends upon how many empty buckets one can put outside and in front of their grocery stores.

Before 800 relaized that it was far more profitable to collect on monthly's we were doing well. This after being told for two years that they couldn't sign us because thay had obligations to other shops.
Then came the axe !

Orders started to dwindle.
More shops were signed, and we took notice.

Still in the game with them for now, but wonder what will happen the day that we get pushed too far !
( Havin video and audio in the shop is a great thing )
Read between the lines !!!!!!!

Hey Toto

Remember back in the day when a flower shop had to be a flower shop ?

Nuff said !

Actually, I don't really consider myself on the fence on this one. After reading everything here, notably the empty promises, I'm leaning heavily against it. But, I am always willing to listen. If they meet all of my demands and then some, and there is little or no risk involved then I'm game.

RISK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is risk !
Risk to livelihood, longevity, and to your biz.

When you have a Marine and a pro wrestler SHOUTING at you, you feel like you should do what they say :boggles:, yet I'm still going to listen. But your points are well taken.

Do what's right for you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Opinions vary ! ( Bloomz )

Be wary, especially now, cause there just ain't no golden lollipop out there any more !

You say you are just going to listen to what they have to say. Well go ahead. They are really smooth talkers, more like used car sellsmen. They will have you talked into it before you know what happened.

That dream of money is how they hook most people. The money may be there in the beginning, but one day you realize that your cost far out way the checks coming in.

I sense some real bitterness, you must have really gotten burned by them.

I'm bitter toward them and I've never been a member. I've just seen what they've done.

Me and hundreds of others. Just don't want to see someone else get burned also.

I also didn't realize that my bitterness came across that strong. I guess I'll have to watch that.:bouquet2:
