Work it, girl! LOL

Taking on another job, I'm guessing hubby is taking on the task of child care.
If not there goes the $$'s of your second job. Why not just take on the task of helping another mother that needs child care , pays well- your home with your own too- I'm not talking about taking on a house full, holiday's coming up
and all-- can't take the kiddies.
You wanted in put--- when are you going to sleep, work, be a mom, work again? I can tell you tho, if it has to be done- a woman can get it done !!
Good luck to ya !! A woman that got it done herself too-- now I set back and let my other half do for me-- I earned it.:bouncy:

Aileen,
Just last year before I opened my own shop I had been working two jobs for about 15 years. Sometimes 3 jobs. (I'm 46)
The best second job I ever had was waitressing (or being a server) as they say now. This is your biggest bang for your buck. You work less hours for more money and you would probably only have to do it a couple nights a week vs working a FULL PART TIME job....and some of it is cash, so you always have a little jingle in your pocket. If you work evenings then Dad needs help kids with homework, get them fed, ready for bed...and this isn't all bad.
You seem to have the perfect mentality, bubbly personality and you seem to be a people person. The restaurant business is much like the flower business believe it or not. When you are busy you are busy!
I would make it perfectly clear to hubby that if you are going to do this, this is your part of compromise, his part is to step up to the plate for the kids he helped make. It gives him the responsibility of owning it, just as you are working it.
Work that crock pot and leave the guilt behind..you are taking care of your children A) by leaving them with their father
B) Financially providing for them
The benefit other than money is you also have the opportunity for Aileen to have a bit of a social life outside of being just a mom and a wife. Some of the greatest people I have worked with were at my second job.
P.S. Actively start looking at prospects now, because when students get home for the holiday break they can take a lot of those positions. You can make good money, invest less time and the kids will be with a parent, not a sitter.
Marcia

Marcia, You are very right. I would much rather leave them with dad than with a sitter. It bugs me now that I have to leave them with my friend during the day while I work at the flower shop. Dad will most definitely step up! I know that part at least. I'm just not sure right now what I'm "feeling" as far as the 2nd job thing-retail, stocking, cleaning, etc. Not sure what field...I do like the cash in hand thing....I am positive though that He will show me where I am to go. Much like how this flower shop came to me. :)

Aileen, are you currently working full or part time at the shop? If it's part time, could you maybe ask your employer for more hours?

Lisa,
I am currently working part time. I haven't yet spoken to my boss as to what to expect as far as hours go for the season. She's on vacation and will be back next week. I missed the boat so to speak on catching her before she left. So the whole 2nd job thing may not be needed. I'll have to wait and see.

Good luck Aileen I worked two jobs for a few years just try not to sacrafice too much family time find something that fits your schedule. I am actually thinking about this myself.

Aileen,
I would definitely start with asking your employer for more hours, or maybe some work that she may have that could be done at home. ex: a cell phone on-call after hours to take orders that you get a percentage of. I have a few friends who clean houses and /or businesses and make excellent money. The good thing with this is they set their own hours with the cleaning around the other job so it never interferes when their regular job needs them at holidays. Most house cleaners here get $15 dollars per hour, not bad for a make your own schedule job.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Joan

Thanks Joan!! I was thinking cleaning would be a good route. Something "easy" for me in that I don't have to worry about sales, customers in & out, etc...I'm sure you get the picture.

UPDATE!!!

Ok so I'm looking at for Dec. I'm going to be added on one more day to total 4 days of work at the shop. So I am putting in an application for the Marine Corps Exchange on MCRD...hopefully I'll get that. That way I can begin working in Nov.
Then tenants are moving out this weekend and we still haven't gotten new tenants...which I figured it'd be like that. So Wish me luck in getting this 2nd job!!
