If this article does not take the the OG "BS Headline Of The Year Award", I just can't see what else will.
Mom n Pop roots? LOL!
Mom n Pop roots? LOL!
Well, As I read the article.......It tells me only one thing. We as local retail florists are going to have to step up to the bat and knock these OG's flat on their hiney. We have four weapons we can use to do this.
Weapon 1 - Absolutely TOP-Notch design - We have a huge advantage with our creativity.
Weapon 2 - Bend-over backwards cutomer service - bar none.
Weapon 3 - Flawless bookkeeping and attention to the profit margins
Weapon 4 - Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous stores and storefronts.
We can no longer try to keep up and play their game by their rules. We have to play our game....by our rules, and leave them the dregs.
Using those weapons is like trying to use a slingshot to stop a tank, I'd say. Unless and until real florists stop enabling OG's by filling for them and the wire services that make the OG business plan work. Course, that would involve playing "our game . . . by our rules", wouldn't it. And most florists, unfortunately, have absolutely no clue as to how to go about doing that.
Better come up with a "Plan B" or just accept the inevitable.
