a little reality

Judy, in my opinion, in the future, wire outs will almost be nil and what florists will be is use an online directory to find a florist, charge the customer $5 to do this, for example, and send the flowers out. Florists won't have an annoying WS, monthly bills, scams, paperwork etc... PLUS the filling florist can get 100%.

I also think that incoming orders for florists will grow a lot.. I mean a lot. I mean so much the florist is going to be overwhelmed. Florists will have to be ready to evolve. I have an idea that will bring the business online back to the florist. Whether it is stole, copied, etc... the retail florist, in the end will reap the benefits. I was told yesterday by the owner of the third largest WS that my idea is the future of online buying, but he said, florists aren't ready for it yet and I happen to partially agree. I think all of you here would love it, but we don't represent all florists in the US. He then went on to say that your idea will be stolen, but the advantage to me is I will have the lead. BUT as Steve has said so many times, brand recognition will win out every time. My only hope is, after FTD has stolen my idea, that florists aren't blind enough to join FTD. And FYI, he went on to say he'd talk to his board about being the main investor and you'll be happy to know I said, "Sorry, I don't want any WS's hands in this business". And I mean this from the bottom of my heart, my business will be by the florist and for the florist.

As Jerry told me on the phone this morning, he's been on the boards for 8 years and has seen a lot of people come and go about their NEW idea that will save us all and so I do understand when people read my posts and think, what a noob, when is this guy gunna go away? Fair enough. But you will someday come to know I am for real.

Whether my idea is stolen by FTD or 1800flowers, you have my word that the retail florist isn't going away when it comes to online sales. YOU WILL as a flower shop need to evolve in the flowers you use and your style, because I will put in the faces of online customers the ULTIMATE service of accountability in our industry, which will bring back our creditability.

If you know about social Darwinism, you know the strong will survive. My idea will speed this process along faster when it comes to retail competition amongst your local florists. Be ready to rumble.

I can talk all day about this idea, but I am really tired of it, as you are too. So what I am going to do is find someone you trust who has been here for a long time, hates dislikes the fact that WS take advantage of their own florists, whom I know and have a special NDA written up. Then that person, in which you trust, can let you know if I am for real or a fraud. :) I think this is the fairest way for me to gain creditability with this community, without letting the big boys know my idea.

Why?

Why would you talk to the WS about your Idea?

You said

Ever hear of keep it under the radar until your stealth idea comes out of Area 51?

Great question BOC. One part, I am young(naive), 1 part over zealous and I also had him sign an NDA.

The reason why I talk about my new idea here is not to tease or make anyone think I know more than them - I'm fishing for investors. I'd rather have florists own this than non florists. The fact is, I have a lot to learn about the floral industry, but when it comes to online flowers, that is my life and what I breath, for four years and feel this is my strength in our industry and hope to wield it to our benifit.

Anyway, that is why Blue.

Everyone is Welcome here Dazeal! Right?

I ask these tough questions because the WS's thrive off of the ideas from these message boards and members who are questioning them on the phones every day. Florists spill their guts to the WS's and cannot realize that they are just getting stroked somewhere within the Statement.

If we folks want to make a difference in the sending and receiving of flowers today we just better keep our ideas secret because everytime someone has a new Idea...it's the same old Ball and Chain with a fresh coat of paint at the same rate of 73-20-7 doing the DANCE.

Hey Blue, thanks for the reply :)

A lot of people here are trying to solve the problem by re-inventing a POS or how florists can talk to florists, but news flash people, customers are getting savvy and are learning to contact the florist directly and cutting out the middle man. And blue this is not a new coat of paint; florist gets 100% to fill. My idea has nothing to do with how florists do b2b.

To solve our problem, you have to think about the customer, not yourself (the florist) solve it from the customer's shoes and not how you can better communicate with other florists. (when we are talking about online sales)

Correct me with I am wrong. Our business is the only one in the US that when someone wants to send flowers across the nation, the customer is "ok", in general, if the flowers aren't exactly what they asked for. Customers have tolerance when it comes to our business, because in small print, a florist will try to do their best, but we might have to substitute. In any other industry, if you substitute you are in big trouble from the customer. I have solved this problem from the customer's eyes and can promise 100% happiness from now on. And the cool thing is, your local customers will use it too. Florists will fill at 100%. I will up the standard in our industry, lets see if florists can keep up.

Oh and btw Blue, another reason why i am not as worried about him stealing my idea is I am light years ahead of them, I own both prime URLs and only told him the principle, not the details.

URL's are not the answer my friend. Fact was you spilled your idea(s) and that is no longer worthy, trust me.

Everyone get's so excited about how they have the "fix" within our Industry but like everyone else we just cannot keep our mouth shut while the idea is BORN.

We folks are our own worst enemies!

Blue I don't want to fight with you :) I'm just saying before you start cutting on me, be wise and wait.

Whether it is me, 1800flower, FTD, or whoever, this idea will be the future of online flowers sales... for your local customers too. Every person I have talked to in the floral industry (mainly florists in my area and those I have met online) also agree with me. I just want to wield this idea for the retail florists and not let the big dogs man handle it. I thought I could bounce the idea off a few florists here and see what florists thought about an idea where customers, whether they be near or far, could get what they wanted from a retail florists who gets %100 of the sale. No more substitutes, special inventory, percents and the customers are always happy because they got what they asked for. The floral industry is the only one that when people order flowers across the nation, it's "ok" to substitute. Not for long. When a customer knows about this new revolutionary way to send flowers online, they will choose it over any other method. I know this from a poll I took from 112 people who order flowers online and from what florists I have talked to told me. I have access to a whole DB of customer who orders flowers online, because of epicflowers and I can follow their habits.

URL's are not the answer my friend. Fact was you spilled your idea(s) and that is no longer worthy, trust me.

Blue, I never spilled my idea and I never said the answer was URLs. Go back and read my posts and see what I said about the real reason I posted before you quote someone or put words into someone's mouth.

Peace! I'm not slamming your ideas...did you mention you talked to JC at fsi about your quest???????

Don't give up..just keep it under the radar and then DROP THE BOMB!.
