Acetate ribbon

Another way to use up that Acetate Satin - makes a cute accessory to designs......learn how to make folded ribbon roses.

Quite a few years ago, just for display.....I did a bridal bouquet of all ribbon roses.....a cascade......ended up selling that bouquet with fresh greens and ribbon roses more than one time.

At AIFD Symposium in Palm Desert, Geert Pattyn took acetate and wove it into a huge mat for display. I think he used #9's and it was purples, fuchsia, and greens. It was HUGE and was intended to be a backdrop for display or tablecloth. It was purdy nifty. Thought I had a picture but I do not.

Oh Ricky, I know 2 different ways to make those roses...
Don't really think I could sell that here. I could show the girls how to do it, and I can already see them rolling their eyes at me.
Nor ribbon/chenille stem butterflies.

The woven mat, maybe.

Today I used #9 to cover plastic cones for a wedding this weekend.
So I found one use.

At the end of summer, if you have not found a great use for the ribbon, donate to your local schools. I know for a fact that art supplies are always welcome.

We used to also be a beads and crafts store. When we decided to get out of the craft biz altogether we had lots of sales but still had tons of stuff left so I called all the schools in our city and told them they had a week to come and get any craft supplies they wanted for free. Everything was gone in an hour and a half.

You need to see a design seminar presented by Pat Murray AIFD. She can do things with Ribbon Roses that look so stylish and so chic.

I've had a couple of requests from customers for ribbon roses added to things or a corsage done with them but I've either used dollar bills or really nice french wired ribbon, have never used the acetate. I think I've done them for an added touch to a gift wrap even, done well they are nice, but not my first choice I'd rather use a high end silk flower.

I use it for funeral work. any vase with neck gets a 3 knot french braid twist and tails. I simply take the starch out of the ribbon to make it softer. take the BACK of your knife and drag it along the rough side. softens it up and makes it hang prettier.

A couple of times I have used huge quantities of the smaller sizes of all pinks, oranges and reds. I have an expandable rod on a two legged stand. I tied the asst ribbons to the top and cut the height of the stand. Keep tying until the bar is full, then put a small fan directed at it. The ribbon makes great movement for a backdrop in your store windows. It makes for a real eye catcher. Actually any color ribbons will work depending on the look and color theme of your display. This project uses those bolts up pretty fast. Hope you can understand and visualize what I did.
