I told Mackenzie that family works for free until they graduate !!
She said, hmmm, well okay !

That works well for me too!! I told my daughter I will have her designing by six and that it wouldn't be child labor because she is family!! My daughter is a hairdresser and my granddaughter has been in her shop since day 1, so we figure she will be two-fold, cutting hair and designing flowers, now that is a new concept, I can see it now, Cut & Grow Hair Salon & Flower Shop,

So if you have a High IQ, you would'nt be a florist??????????
Wow, what does that say bout us? Dooh!

I went through IQ "testing" along with all the students in our public school, I think it was grade 5 or 6, and I was in the top 1 percentile, which was over 165...to this very day I'm STILL scratching my head as to what REALLY happened!!:tongue

Julz...that would be a GREAT production line!!

i would make sure she goes to college and hopefully even graduate school

and find a career that she really loves that pays well and when she goes home at night
she can go to sleep without having to worry whether it is going to snow tommorrow and cut into her sales and what is she going to do w/ all those flowers she ordered that no one can get out to buy etc etc etc

and encourage her to continue her design hobby in case she has to fall back on
something else

today we need to be able to do a lot of different things in life

thanks for the pics

I actually really like this business, even though its retail in a crap economy, even though my hands look like a mechanics and my feet sometimes feel like they have been pounded with hammers. I still like it and I think there is a future for us real florists and that we can make decent livings being florists. We DO have to be smarter, better, and more efficient to be successful these days, but it can happen and I've learned so freak'n much by reading this board that I do believe I'm starting to get it right!!
