Another what would you do?

I'm hijacking the thread here.

How much effort do you put onto tracking down people who schedule a pickup and then don't show?

I had a cust order for pick up for after lunch. After lunch came and went, finally 4:30 called her office - gone left for the day. The item was for her hubby - I did know where he worked but???? [item was not paid for]
Came in this am - she left me a voice mail after hours. "I forgot to pick up I hope you took it to freds work for me." WHAT??? Should I have dropped it on the way home? called earlier? WHATTTTT.

I think I need a vacation. My mind is fried, second guessing should of and could of and dealing with some of the most inconsequential stuff these days! Customers seem to be getting more difficult and picky questioning delivery pricing, its the wrong shade of RED, what about the heat with delivery (what about the heat? - got an IN somewhere???) if my hair cut wasn't so short this week I'd be pulling it out!!!

Geeze louise! I would have called a little sooner - probably about 3 or so - we usually do this so we don't get stuck with something that may not be paid for yet. Sometimes we've had people so grateful we've called because they truly forgot - most times they're just "running behind" and will be in shortly.

I don't understand why she would have expected you to deliver it to his work, for all the reasons you already mentioned - not paid, no name, no delivery location ........ it's truly not your "fault", though you could have been a hero of sorts with an earlier reminder call. But you still take it to heart I'm sure.

A few days off or away can make a world of difference. We just did this last week - 4 days in a sleepy MD town, B&B, massage, alcohol, fine food, time alone and with hubby. The world is a better place because of these 4 days!

Don't forget, it's friday the 13th - might as well be a full moon!

Um, she left work for the day at lunch time..............

Have you spoken with her today?

Gotta love the looneys!!! I wonder if Target would deliver the lamp you looked at last friday that was not paid for and through telepathy they knew you wanted it. Sometimes I think that people think we are mindreaders and magicians. I had a bride come in July 2nd for a July 15th wedding. She left my store and said she was going to get a wedding dress and would call back to finalize. I gave her a price range of what she could expect to pay and told her it needed to be finalized by July 3rd. July 3rd I called her and left her a message saying that i was closing until the 8th and she could call my cell phone if she just got wrapped up in all the planning(she is a friend of a friend and planned her wedding in 1 month). I talked to my friend on july 10th and she asked if her friend had called back and I said no and told her of the message. The bride calls last night to tell me that her friend bought her flowers for her gift through her florist and she's sorry she didn't call back. When I heard her voice my heart sank because I was almost sure she wanted me to pull some flowers out of my A$$ for her wedding on Sunday.

Hate to belabor the point Inka, but didn't we have this discussion previously about constructing orders without payment?

If the money is in the bank...the onus is on her...NOT YOU!

I Know

I KNOW I KNOW.

Do you know how darn hard it is :hammer: to break that darn habit of letting people get away with ordering and paying at pickup later??? its that SMALL TOWN thing and I would have to shoot or fire over half my good customers let alone the other ones who we allow the practice. :hammer:

Perhaps if I had made her pay up front she would have remembered........

...& you know this one is coming...

HOW GOOD ARE THEY???

...especially if they're not paying up front!!

for the most part they are. Very seldom do we ever get hung, thats why this whole thing got to me.

I guess you can call it an adult having a childish meltdown......luckily it was here and not in front of the customers or employees

Oh yes, of course we delivered your flowers to Fred at his office because we are "Psychic floral LLC". In fact, we have also sent flowers to your Aunt Betty in Flordia, because as you may have forgotten, its her Birthday. We are truely mind readers so just go ahead and pay us whenever you feel like it because we really don't need money or anything. People are so dad burn funny sometimes. Is it happy hour yet?:beer

I also would not send her a free flower arrangement.

I would, however, follow-up with a written letter, keeping a copy with the quotation workups, saying that you are sorry for the miscommunication, and offering to help her in the future.

I would also make it a practice to follow-up on any quotation, large or small, so that things don't fall thru the cracks. when we do this, we simply state that "we are just touching base, to see where things stand." Take notes with your file. Also, an order of this small size would require payment in full prior to delivery. We would also make sure that we have the DATE OF THE EVENT CONFIRMED from the start.

Hope this helps....
Regards,
Cheryl
