Or cookies?

And if you are, what'cha makin'?

I'm making chocolate covered cherries, coconut bars, haystacks, maybe fudge, rice krispie treats, and "everything" cookies.

Anybody got a recipe for VERY easy peanut butter fudge?
Peanut butter fudge is my favorite.

I am making double chocolate kisses, sea glass candy, cupcakes that look like welsh corgis with little Santa hats and oatmeal bars. I am also hosting 15 for dinner. This recipe is a little freaky but it is very easy peanut butter fudge.

Velveeta Peanut Butter Fudge
1/2 lb Velveeta cheese
2 lbs powdered sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup peanut butter

Melt first 3 ingredients together in microwave. Add remaining ingredients. Knead like bread dough until you can no longer see the sugar. Spread into greased pan. Refrigerate until set. Cut and enjoy! I wrap them in wax paper squares and put them out with the cookies.

Thursday will be my third day of baking pies. It's taking 3 days because I keep getting interrupted to run to the shop or something equally as pressing. I only do one pie recipe, Hubby's favorite, which he calls German Chocolate Pie. It's chocolate, pecans, and coconut. I'll be ending the baking Thursday with the final 10 pies. We give lots of them away to family and friends, but we freeze a lot of them so that Hubby can enjoy them all year. I only bake them at Christmas.

BTW, I never touch chocolate myself. It triggers my migraine headaches.

And the things you can learn on FlowerChat! Whoever knew that peanut butter fudge had cheese it!

just went to my cookie exchange this past sunday. I just bring my famous (actually Jackie Burell's recipe - another michigan florist) oatmeal raisin/cherry cookie and one other treat. We have a few drinks, gossip, eat a few cookies then everyone takes a box of mixed goodies home.

I hate to bake so this way I don't have to.. much.

I usually don't do all this candy and baking, but for some reason this year I did.

uh, i don't know about cheese fugde....... freaky is right.

Anybody else doing anything, any other peanut butter fudge recipes?

Peanut Butter Fudge

3c. sugar
3/4 c. evaporated milk
3/4 c. whole milk

Bring to a boil; boil to soft ball.
Add:

1 1/2 c. peanut butter
1 1/2 t. Karo syrup
2 T. margarine

Mix thoroughly; stir until starting to cool down. Add 3/4 t. vanilla. With pan of candy in cold water, stir until mixture starts to turn dull. Pour into a 9 X 13-inch buttered pan. Cool; cut into squares.

Here's another one:

Peanut Butter Candy

2 c. sugar
2T. corn syrup
2/3 c. milk
1/4 t. salt
1 c. peanut butter
1 t. vanilla

Mix sugar, corn syrup, salt, and milk; boil slowly to soft ball stage. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla; beat until glossy. Pour into grased dish. Cool; cut into quares.

Both of these recipes are from my favorite church cookbook. The latter recipe was submitted by a local lady who has quite a reputation for being a fabulous cook.

Doodlebugs

shannon what are haystacks?

just making press cookies - boring - but a tradition.

Haystacks...hmmm...reminds me of the Doodlebugs I used to make (that the kids LOVED - waaayyy too much sugar tho!). I'll have to dig out the recipe :)

easy peanut butter fudge

how's this for easy.

a tub of premade frosting... white or cream cheese
put it in a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 2 minutes

stir in 1 cup of peanut butter

stir in 1 cup of sifted powdered sugar

put in 8 X 8 or 9 X 9 pan ( i used a 9 X 13 and it was plenty thick enough )..

put in fridge and let set up.. cut in squares... that's it...

Now that's my kind of easy!!

Haystacks are chow mein noodles, with melted butterscotch chips and peanut butter
totally good!!

Candy here!

I've been making Rocky Road Bark, Chocolate Peppermint Bark, Macadamia Nut Brittle, Cashew Brittle, Peanut Brittle, Sea Salt Caramels, Chocolate Cashew Clusters, Chocolate Covered Candy Canes, and still need to do Rice Crispy Bark, Chocolate/Pretzel Bark and Maybe some Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge. I am making gift boxes of the candies for a few of our funeral directors and other top clients for which flowers aren't the best gift. Speaking of fudge -- my recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter is:
1 pound melting chocolate ( I use Merckens)
1 cup peanut butter
Melt the chocolate in an oven safe glass dish at about 170 degrees. When melted, add the peanut butter and stir until smooth and all combined. Pour into a wax paper lined pan ( or leave in the glass dish) and place in a cool area until it is set. No need to refrigerate or anything. Couldn't be any simpler! You can do plain Peanut Butter Fudge by using a pound of white melting chocolate, and a little bit more peanut butter. The nice thing about this recipe is that if you want to add more peanut butter you can, or less -- it may result in softer or harder fudge, but it's still delicious! You can also add nuts if you wish - just stir them in.

Ok, for the love of God people, WHERE DO YOU FIND THE TIME????????????????? I can't remember the last time I bathed?

Shannon, you're killing me with these threads...first the canning one which totally still has me craving good homemade preserves, now the candy/cookie thread. My measely box of frickin' oreos are just not going to cut it. This is torture!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I might start baking, as soon as I get my Christmas shopping done, finish going to all the @@@@ school plays/concerts, get the holiday cards written, addressed and sent, then finish greening the store specials, writing the email blast, shopping for the 3 token fruit baskets, answering email, dodging vendor calls for money, calling my own deadbeats to send us money, balancing the checkbook...oh,yeah and shopping for Christmas dinner (ok, calling my favorite store and ordering their homemade goodies which I will transfer into my bowls and claim as my own)! Now I need a nap!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The next time you start a thread that is going to make me sad, guilty and jealous. PLEASE send me a little snack to hold me over!

XOXOXOXO:soapbox:

awwww, I'm sorry Amy, didn't mean to make ya feel bad girlfriend!

really I don't know what's gotten in to me this year. I'm mixin' it up girl!!!

Hey I still need to get all those jars of jelly in the mail! So I guess I'm slacking there.

Plus, I really do have a rock star crew, I love my crew at the shop. We work so good together, makes my life easier. I feel like I can breathe and relax. I no way could do it with out them!

I haven't baked a thing yet. This coming weekend I hope to make maybe 4 things. And then.. the hard part... finding a good place to hide it all from the family, so we'll have some for Christmas.

I usually make something chocolate, something sugar cookie, something haystacky, and maybe Russian tea cakes (those shortbready cookies covered in powdered sugar), sometimes those cookies with the Hershey's kiss in the middle. Last year I made biscotti too! Biscotti is easy, and makes a lot in a short time! Dip some of them in melted chocolate, leave some plain. Awesome!

Hey, you know what's really good and easy?? Chocolate dipped pretzel rods. You get those big honkin pretzel rods (like 1/2" x 8"), dip them in melted chocolate chips, then sprinkle with nuts or sprinkles. Set on waxed paper to cool and set up. Yum!

cookies

My daughters and I made 19 diffrent types of cookies and candy to deliver to 20 diffrent friends homes. We dress up as elfs and have a special note that goes on the box of cookies we give each family 2 dozen . We ring and run so as they come to the door the elves and I are driving away. It is always a blast
The favorites that we make are tiger butter bark, white choc, fruit bark and italian spice cookies. I think most Florist are a touch Martha Stewart/ Norman Rockwell ( ok maybe I just like to think that as I bake cookies for 2 weeks straight into the wee hours)
Happy holiday
