I just have to rant, I'm frustrated as he11.

So man wearing a t-shirt with no sleeves, shorts, and boaters comes in, just minutes ago.

"Hi, can I help you?" I ask. He ignores me and walks over to the cooler. I decided he just didn't hear me, perhaps he is hard of hearing or deaf.

"Can I help you find something?" I ask. He still ignores me briefly, then finally looks at me and asks. "Is this all have have that's ready made?"

"Yes, it is" I answer. "Were you looking for something special?"

"I have a funeral I have to go to and I'm already late, and I forgot the flowers" he answers.

"Well, I can make something up for you...." I start out.

But he stopped me as he started walking toward the door, and said "No, I don't have time for that, I'll go and look somewhere else."

I tried not to shout as he was opening the door that I didn't think he was going to find a funeral spray already made but I could make one very quickly.......

I guess I need a poor baby. I mean, I tried to help the man. It is not my fault he forgot the flowers, but I was willing to help him. I understand people act weirdly when they are grieving, but give me a chance to help. I mean, if you don't have time to wait for a design to be made but you DO have time to go driving around to find just what you're looking for.......

Okay, I'm done, thanks for listening!

People are funny...I mean really funny in so many different ways...Don't let this buffoon bother you, you tried, he's an idiot...now have a nice afternoon just laughing at these dolts...I doubt he will be finding a ready made piece, too. I am almost positive he will get laughed at or worse at other shops and it will make you look like the ride he missed out on..so relish in knowing he will be saying, geez I shoulda had the first lady make me sumthin, she at least wanted to help me!

You know, that's true Lori. Really true. Earlier today, a woman called wanting to send flowers to her sister. I said sure, did you know what you were looking for? She said not really, but she just broke her arm and I want something to give her a lift.

We went through the order, decided on a really bright mix in a vase and she said, " now can this go out today or tomorrow?" Oh sure, it will be out there this afternoon between 1:30-4:00.

Then she tells me I'm not the first florist she called. She called one that is five blocks from this address - five blocks! And they told her no, they were too busy. She explained to them that it could be tomorrow, THEY STILL SAID NO! They are too busy.

So.....I got a $70 sale, good grief, both sides of the coin, but my point is Lori is probably right, at least he can't be upset with me because obviously there are florists out there who would be rude besides saying no.

and I hate to say this, but mid july they are too busy 2 days in a row....I highly doubt this...I have worked for some really busy shops and never, I mean never have I encountered one that was so busy in mid july that they couldn't accomodate a deliver with a two day window, NEVER EVER!!!!

hmm, must be in the air - lady died last week, visiting yesterday 6-8 and I had calls all day long yesterday "Can I still get flowers to the funeral?" "Yes, We Can"....... all seemed very relieved that we could still do something for them, even the one from the lawyers office (the lawyer is a daughter in law to the deceased) that called at 4:00 P.M. (delivery made at 5)......

That man is just rude and will always be rude as he does not respect people. Asshole or dickhead is what i term them. I just thank god i did not marry someone like that and my son is not like that.

I get them on Mothers Day. I have a whole list of expletives on that day lol...

Have a great day and forget that freakin fool ;)

I just have to rant...

Funny, I had a similar customer last week. He and his wife have been customers a long time. He called about 10:30 AM and wanted to get flowers to a funeral luncheon in another city by 12:30. He didn't have the address of the recipient. He wanted the filling florist to check the newspaper. I tried giving him the name of a florist in that city, but he didn't want to call them directly. I said that I'd do my best, and tried to get information from him for the filling florist. He said he wanted the flowers there ASAP. I tried asking if he would accept a delivery after 12:30. He couldn't understand my asking these questions, and thought I was telling him I couldn't get it done. When I tried to explain that I was trying to get it done but needed more information, he blew up and said he'd go elsewhere...

Oh Joanne, thank you for that, I burst out laughing. (I'm in my office at the store, I think my neighbors at the coffee shop next door may have become concerned!) lol

But seriously, what more could I have done besides follow him outside? He probably would have called the cops!

You just can't make customers like that happy. If they come in expecting to be disappointed, that's what they will get!

One customer came into our shop and said "I need a corsage made ASAP. Do you have one ready to go?"
"No. We make them custom because the flowers are out of water. We'd be happy to make one for you if you have 10 minutes to wait"

"I can't wait. I need one right now"

She came back about 25 minutes later and said "Can you still make me a corsage?"
"Absolutely. It will be 10 minutes"

It turns out she went to two other shops and they couldn't make one for her on the spot, so she came back.
If she just would have waited the 10 minutes she would have saved herself a lot of time!
I just WISH you could say stuff like that to them!

On the upside... without the PIA's we wouldn't have this thread that made us smile or laugh.

The bad ones make us really appreciate the good ones and besides, you can't poke fun at the heros. ;)

Oh hell yes... luckily for you you aren't around on the numerous days when I open my mouth and stupid falls out. ;) So poke away... sometimes it wakes me up.

And by the way, thank you for that... you just made my week. :)

I had a heart attack this morning.

First walk in customer 9:00am sent me into cardiac arrest. He is standing at the door and pounding the He77 out of it. I am surprised the glass wasn't breaking. Of course I am not in direct site of the door and his pounding scared the crap out of me, choke on my coffee

So, I get to the door AND PUSH IT OPEN, He rants ARE you open??? your door was locked!!#@
- he has been standing at my door trying to push it open WHEN THE BIG SIGN ON THE DOOR SAYS ***pull***

so then he proceeded to order flowers that HAVE to be delivered at 5pm on Sunday for a birthday in a town about 18 miles west of us..... well hell about that too.

SO... he hands me the invite to get an address etc and I note the birthday party is JULY 18..... When I point that out to him he says: "Well you just lost yourself a good chunk of money" and off he stomps....
