Well I'm not sure why I never thought of this before, but like all things, the time has come...

For those of you that fill for the likes of FTD.coN and Teleflora.coN and 800Flowers, perhaps you'll find this useful, perhaps not...

My suggestion would be this:

On every incoming *Company Order* I would send an ASK P ($14.95) and get your hands on the "Delivery/service charge" they are charging the CONsumer and either apply it to your delivery expense (making delivery profitable for you), apply it to the product (giving the CONsumer full value) or a combination of both. Perhaps a line item on your invoice that would go to offset membership expenses.

They are collecting it, you should be getting it! They are already getting 20% like any other florist generated order, I say they do not deserve anything more than that.

BWTHDIK....

are you NOT doing that now??
Mikey, I don't fill them at all. DacoN's orders flowing into Midland come from 22 miles away...

And Joe, I would not be satisfied with the $5-7.00 knowing the order generator is making more than the filling florist on any order under about $65.00 or so...

My question to you is would you like it if a florist wanted to take your wire fee collect and put it towards their membership fees???

I get more orders from real live florists with no delivery charge added on than from dot.coms....so it is not just the big 3 or the nationals that suck eggs....it is some of our very own that suck even worse...

then deduct more from the arrangement, three less $3.00 flowers should cover the difference.

It all boils down to simplicity guys......If you want to cultivate the WS incoming.....then at least make sure it is as profitable for you as possible. If that is taking the order dollars as given....then do it, If that means asking more to cover delivery.....then do it, if that entails asking for a greater arrangement total.....then do it.

Do the math for yourself.......decide what is best for your business.....then go out and do it.

On principle, they are collecting it, I deserve it, I'm the one doing the delivery and servicing the order...

Not an option, that reduces value on the receiving end... and on a %35.00 design becomes very noticable

no what you deserve is what they sell plus the delivery fee...WS orders have the delivery fee built in..albeit less than most shops deliver for, but all but 800 let you by their rules fill to order value...but at least the delivery is included...when you get a 35.00 order from a real florist then you must take 7-10 dollars from that for delivery and they want something with no carns or daisies you know that they never added in a delivery at all, yet they would probably never ever take that order from your shop if you were in fact silly enough to send one out like that....and they probably collected their ws fee which is the evry reason they didn't add on a local delivery fee because they haven't the foggiest as to what to tell the customer when their order is 20.00 more than what they wanted to spend because they just can't bare to tell the customer the truth, that they will not be delivering the arrangement and they would rather the customer think that we telekinetically send the flowers to there east bumfudge location....instead of eduacating them how it is done and getting payment to do it right....

My point is that even very few real florists give the benefit of proper payment that they @@@@@ about themselves....

If you are a Bloomnet member, 1800F will definitely cut you off if you ask for prices changes, they allow it once or twice, but then they will stop sending you orders if you are a member, because they keep track of your "metrics" they call it...your report card!

Funny, tho, if you are not a member, you can ask for all the price changes you want. They may try to give the order to someone else, but it often comes back to you again and you get the extra money.

Hence my deserving of the money they are collecting FOR DELIVERY, why should they be allowed to keep it?

Lori, I concur with almost everything you said. Thus the reason for sending customers directly to the fulfilling florist... we gave out 7 phone numbers today, and 6 yesterday...

BTW, my average outgoing order is just shy of $60.00...delivery included...
______________
Added: One other thing, I codify for $9.95 delivery, thus it *should* added onto the SRP and included, they don't so I don't fill.

Mine too...anything less and I give most people a few numbers to call figuring they can do better without me in the middle...

I really think the answer is if you can't do it for the amount given reject, why waste your time with the messages...if you can't do it and make a profit or enough profit why cause yourself more labor with the foolish messages, just reject and let them know why...

it is futile to even bother...either fill or don't and move on....concentrate on better things with more future, because WS ain't it, but you know that...

Well you have three choices,

fill to your value plus your delivery

ask for more Delivery $ - but you will only get an extra $5 out of FTD

or reject the order. which depending on the size of the order is self-defeating.

Boss, forgive me if I am dense, but I am really confused...

If you don't fill incoming wires and you give numbers for outgoing, why on Earth do you belong at all....Is it to service those who just want you to do it for them....You confuse the crap out of me sometimes...

Boss, You confuse the crap out of me sometimes...
My goal in life ;)... and you're not dense!!! You take that back!!

I fill for other Real Florists, with rarely a question asked...not *company orders* (my original post that started this mess, was for others, that are not getting the money collected on orders they fill for the motherships)

As to why... that's a good question... first, it give me a right to complain ;) I love being a pain in their assets, and there are some orders I do send out for corporate clients.

With all due respect for your opinions.

I do NOT find that other florist when sending us an order fail to collect deliver.
And $35.00 from another shop...I've NEVER received an order like that.
The average total incoming order (remember I got out of all the "crookery" almost 2 years ago) is about 60.00. They do send separate delivery.

We when we send out an order we look up the filling shops delivery and make sure we get enough for them
.
Infact many times theirs is less than our base or default deliver and we give them more than is required.

I also feel the filling florist should get more, so I have been known to offer 90/10%
on a CC split. and yes I know some will say I'm being an OG, but that filling florist
wouldn't have that order without my having dealt with the sender and checked the internet for the best value shop for them.

What would the WS do if everyone just on FC asked for that $14.95 for only one day (oooo, maybe a major flower holiday)? What would they do? Oh my?
Do it, I dare you, I double dog dare you, I triple dog dare you! Love it!

When we were still with 1800, we had a phone number we'd call and get 10.00 del. every time with no problem. Sometimes they'd even give up the entire 12.00 to us.
Granted we were the only 1800 shop over a large area at the time. It didn't effect the number of orders we received.
