ASK P (MO$) for delivery, New Policy?

Quick questions:

As I understand it, each WS tells florists in their networks how much of the price represents the local delivery fee for orders they've sold. IIRC TF was even stating the amount in Dove orders.

Shouldn't consumers be given that information, too?

IMO, this info should be plainly disclosed to consumers since it would be material to the purchasing decision.

Should we, as a group, lobby the FTC to require local delivery price fee disclosure on each product when the price displayed includes delivery?

As has been noted, when florists ask for the more local delivery dollars, the big senders just 'punish' them by cutting off the orders.

Just askin'......

My point exactly!

For you that fill these orders, why don't you let your local customers tell you how much they are willing to pay for delivery?

No one but me sets my prices..! And I don't work for cheap...!!!

You're all making me worried about how I handle undervalued orders. When I get one (that we don't reject), from the "mothership" or anyone, I send or call with a message:

"Our price for this arrangement is $X and our delivery is $X for a total of $XX. We will fill this order with the best possible product & design to value. Please advise your customer that it may be smaller than they pictured."

Quite often, they send more money. Sometimes I get an "ok". Occasionally, I get a CAN. Any way it falls out, I felt that we have left a paper trail, and put the responsibility on the undervaluing orderer.

But maybe I'm wrong?

I concur whole-heartedly. I will continue the campaign for this in Canada when I get time... JB - I have time :)

Still in contact with the Retail Council of Canada - Hope to get some visibility at some point. Working on it.

Nope, Gracie, you're doing it right IMO...

But I'm pretty sure that the sending florist rarely if ever contacts the CONsumer and advises that "It will be smaller than expected"....

I do think that the local delivery charge should be a separate line item...I also think that the delivery charge should be the true delivery charge of the local fulfilling florists...On my website I get 10.00 for delivery and choose someone that has a 10.00 delivery or under...anything extra can go into the flowers...

I believe that the delivery included is just one way of making the customer believe that a real florists prices are higher than theirs and they are being duped....everyone should know what they are paying for all the time each charge should be separate...
