I have noticed over the past few days, we have been receiving orders from Bloomnet to fill orders at full value for less $$. After doing a bit of research, I realized they are offering thier customers sometimes more than $10 Off on certain products, yet they want us to fill the order to the full $$ amount.

Now, I know thier will be many that go back to previous discussions of why we shouldn't have a wire service, ect. ect. That's not what this thread is about.

If there is anyone else that is Bloomnet, I would like to know if you fill these orders to full value for the discounted $$$'s they send you or if you ask for price changes as we have done? If you do fill them for less money, how do you make a profit with them?

With the cost of product, I just can't find a way to make this happen and when I send a price change request I get back nasty messages with the cancellation request.

I am a minority, but I make sure the order is not costing me anything. As long as I am making a bit of money I fill it. If you cut it down you are looking for a problem. If you ask for more money they will cut back on what they send you(your choice if you care). If it is costing me money I will reject. I havn't had any that I cannot make a few bucks on and it saves me money as I will have my hourly driver deliver them instead of a per delivery expensive driver on Sunday.

If I could make a few bucks on these deals that would be great, that's the whole idea of filling for them. However; when an arrangements full value is $64.99 and they send it to me with only $54.99 to accommodate a $64.99 arrangement delivery incl., how can you possibly make a few bucks on that. You are still using $64.99 worth of product and labor minus your delivery not to mention the 20% off the top already. So you are really giving them a 20% discount and then on top of that your are giving thier customer an addtl. $10 disc. which we don't even offer to our local customers. If you are able to make a few bucks with these orders I would sure appreciate you sharing how with me, because so far no matter how I work it, I lose.

I believe the discount on 1-800's orders through BloomNet is 29% so your net in dollars on the SRP $64.99 sent at $54.99 is $39.04 - a 40% discount.

CHR,
In your opinion, is this an order you can fill and still make enough money for it to be worth while. The arrangement in question is pictured below (using the menu for the Large size).

MAN that looks a lot like FTD's M1 !!!

Specialoccasion: Hate to break this to ya' - but that's what you get for filling for 800! We had done it for 9 years...put up with a lot of crap for little money. What you are stating is not new to me...been there.

I am seeing your logic: if you can MAKE a couple bucks on their orders, fill them. Problem is, that logic is now flawed in TODAY'S marketplace. Years ago, you COULD make money - and a good bit of it - filling orders for 800 (we did for the first 6 or 7 years). But, today...nope. Not unless you're doing a BIG volume (150 + orders a month MIN) and have your costs REALLY tight...ZERO room for error.

If memory serves me, when 800 offered these "early order/delivery" incentives, sometimes they took the hit on the price. They would give you SRP on the order, and cost out the $10 discount out of their collected service fee... Anyway, things change...

...that's why we're out!

Your not very nice:tongue: ... and I don't fill what I can't make a few bucks on. That includes these arrangements.. we have received 3 today and I have requested addtl. $10 on each, price change granted on all but one so far which they asked for a cancel on and I was happy to oblige.

We usually get a fair amount of orders from 800 not sure it's 150 monthly yet, but I don't fill any that don't atleast get a few bucks on.

They have always pulled this. They offer there customers discounts for early delivery and early ordering. The have always sent a message to the filling florist before holidays without warning

"hey guess what we are going to do this and there is nothing you can do about it"

Again you must stop filling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you start filling upwards of 500 you can see some money.

Tough to get by on 100 or so.

no delivery fee

I have not noticed "discounted" orders but I did find out that Bloomnet sends us the orders with no delivery fee. They said that we (the florist) just needs to call them and ask for the extra and they will give it to us!!
I've called on 5 orders so far to day and it's only 11 AM! YIKES!
lots of work for small orders!!!!

Their products included del.--if you feel you need more, than you can ask for it.They generally will say yes, but the number of times you ask is remembered- as is the orders you've rejected...you may find your orders dwindling-don't rock the boat too hard, you have to learn to play their game (if you really want to)

Be very cautious asking for delivery money, as it is included.
They will extend the courtesy at times but it is not wise to make it a habit.

Rock the boat, we have not had one call from 800, but we wouldn't fill for them anyway, and we have all we can do without them, 9:45 and still several hours to go to just get tomorrows orders ready, then still more than that allready for Saturday.

So, they don't include delivery, they don't give you enough money... they punish you for asking for delivery... and yet you keep filling. I don't get it.

The arrangements DO include delivery. If you sat down and figured the retail price they are right on with delivery of an average 8.00 included in the price. The only one problem is that people take a hissy when at the holidays they have more than enough of their own to do they start questioning the discounted work, because it is crunch time.

It is discount work you either want it or you don't. It is what it is and will never be different. We will never make full retail price on anything wired in. Most are wising up and adding more money in for delivery as gas is going up, but other than that don't count on much more.

I realize the arrangements are 'SUPPOSED" to include delivery. However, according to the above posts, this is not always the case. It seems to me, there is little or no money to be made if you have to take this and that off BEFORE you do the arrangement.

Forgive my ignorance, but, I don't understand filling under those conditions.

orders

I'm new to this W/S deal and want to know why they send orders that are virtually impossible to fill.

According to them they do add a delivery. (my rep says avg. $7.50) However; they do not take into consideration that the cost of flowers from our distributors rise during holidays. They want you to fill alot of those orders for the same price as you would during non-holiday periods, and yes on many you only make very minimal if anything at all, depending on your cost of product. I agree that if you get in enough orders you can make money on everyday filling if you really cost it out, but during holidays it is different and that is the main I take a so called take a hissy. I do ask for more money if the figures don't add up and I reject when needed, if they hold it against me... so be it... in the long run I will be just one less filler in the area they can count on.
