Lori...leave it!!
"New" posters have equal opportunities to "debate" already hashed over subjects, until they catch onto the ridiculous reason for arguing about wire services in the first place.

Please pass the popcorn.....

Lori was not rude at all, some people seem to take the truth as rude I guess???

Good luck organizing a boycott - in this economic environment it is gonna be a real hit I'm sure.

I would love to do it. However, the way business is right now we need every order we can get. We reject the garbage orders, but kee the better ones. If we had enough regular orders, funeral work, party work, weekly's and so on, I would dump FTD and TF in a heart beat.

Tough times are a reason to accept orders that lose you money??? Brilliant!

I have already started the boycott raused my miniun WR from FTD.com to $99.00. That should stop the small orders also raised my minium to 45.00

Not only does FTD send you orders below your listed minimum, but they charge you a $1.75 to reject them!!!! That was my own personal breaking point. At least Teleflora does not charge you to reject - yet.

I think that maybe Teleflora is starting to smell the bad misty blue (yuk!)
I've been getting surveys for a cute box arrangement. The box costs $1.75. Pretty cheap. Also, this morning, I got a survey for 2010 VD vase, with a small box of chocolates for $6.99 - not too bad if they charge enough for the roses. I'm representing my state for the new directory advisorary panel. You can bet they will get my honest reactions. I'm just concerned that they won't send me the suggested selling prices. I'm going to try my best to make them. Normally, I would tell Teleflora to blow off, but, we need informed input to protect all of us. Who knows if they will listen......

The wire services and order gatherer come here all the time. They read, they wonder, then return to the board room and raise fees. Knowing the Sheeple will will always submit to shearing.Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

This whole subject has been a no brainer sense 1-800 came into being.

Filling 3rd party orders generated outside of the Traditional retail venue, was NEVER in its best interest. Ever.

History and this 17-18 year thread proves my point.

Bla, bla, bla, Bzzzz, bzzzz, bzzzz. Bla, bla....

Just a point of clarification, FTD does not charge to REJect an order, they charge a non-refundable $1.25 FTO relay fee for all incoming orders regardless if you fill or reject.

The sending shop used to be charged an optional FTO transmission fee, but this changed to a no option fee to the receiving shop some time back in the 90's.

I'll have nachos pls jon:)

I actually make money on relay (as we call them). And, i think we all need to make individual decisions based on our own personal business'. For me, i make money, i have increased business therefore appealing to a wider market, i get a great deal on my card machine (half of what i was paying), my stock turnover is better and i can stock more varieties because of the increased business. That personally works for me.

I am not saying that I rely on relay whatsover, and i may change my mind in the future, my main point is that it is up to each individual business just like every other decision that we make.

Honestly, i am sure she does not need me to say this but Lori is not a rude person as you will find out. I did not read her posts as rude, just a point of view.

Anyway, just my couple of pence worth, but what do i know? I just count my pennies and see if its working, if it is it stays and if not then it goes:)

I think we each need to conduct our own boycott. Pick a day, week or month, then whenever an OG contacts you, simply tell them you're no longer accepting orders from their company. It may take a couple of calls before they get the hint, but it should stop them from contacting you. When they see the number of shops who refuse their orders increasing, they'll start shaking in their boots. The biggest temptation will be to resume taking their orders. You will no doubt think "My sales are down! Gotta have those orders!" Remind yourself that the reason you're pushing them away is that you're not making money and sometimes even loosing money on their orders. Another thought would be to recruit a few (2 - 3) other florists in the area to broaden the impact. Try to get the biggest shops in your area to participate. Remember, you own the OGs NOTHING! They owe their existence to you. Cut them off where they stand.
