I am watching a great segment on CNN right now. Did you know that Bar sales are up 30%. An average Bartender makes $1600 a week, tips average $500 per shift. Bartenders are in demand.

Would someone please call Jim McCann and see if he can destroy that industry too.

BOSS< bar tender in another life....

Funny (not) isn't it that when the economy sux, folks always find money enuf to drink away...folks get laid off...they head to the bar, get fired...head to the bar...divorce...bar....and the list goes on.

That pay scale is available in NYC in a busy bar, but not in the general country, but I did well for a second job, often clearing $200.00 a night including tips in a bar that would only hold about 150 people and live muzak.

Well, my daughter is a bar manager. She does very well (she's planning her next expedition).

By the way Mark, Muzak applied for bankruptcy yesterday.

In approx four months we are moving across the street. Currently we are right next door to Starbucks, we will now be right next door to a big ole' liquour store. I do wonder if that will help. Actually, I think it will, as they want us to put in a small display of bouquets on Fri and Sat! Plus we get a parking lot rather than a bus stop in front of our store. In both good and bad economies people still drink. They should forgoe the hangover and buy flowers instead!

I don't think they like to drink so much as bars help people find a place to connect with each other to forget about the outside world and to relax.

Hey you should talk to the owners of Starbucks if your buildings are connected and see if you guys can open the wall between you guys, in exchange you can offer some of your showroom space as sitting area.
You would get some great exposure. Kind of change up the look of Chezbloom to contrast and compliment the Starbuck feel.

Wouldn't it be great to do something like this and have a company like Starbuck ask you to spearhead the concept around the world?

I wish someone would just get a lucky break. I wish it were you.

You might think about some sort of a partnership with the liquor store making gift baskets. The customers could bring their purchases of liquor over to you and you could make a custom gift basket for them, maybe have a special rate to the liquor store's customers (or offer the liquor store a percentage for referring them to you.) A lot of florists are getting into the gift basket industry (its really quite easy.) You have the perfect in. Many liquor stores like to offer gift baskets but don't want to have the hassle. It helps everyone. Just make sure to check your local liquor laws. I would think since you would NOT be SELLING the liquor, just the basket designing, you would be ok. But I am no lawyer!

Hoarsee...um let me get back up here!
WOW the weather has changeded!
Mushroom just walked into the bar...
The bartender wont serve him.....He asked why not...
Because you're a mushroom!
He replied...... no I'm a fun guy!!!!!
Yager bombs for everyone!!!!

So the shroom walks out and sees a string crying on the curb, the shroom says ey, why ya crying, the string says, the tender wont serve strings. so the shroom ties the string into a knot and says get back in there. The string walks up to order a drink, bartender says "ey aren't you that string I threw out a here? the string replies, "no I'm knot", the tender says, are you sure, the string bakes up and nervously messes his ends up and replies I'm a frayed knot.

My oldest and closest friend, was just given $1,300,000.00 in free land, by the city in which they are relocated their business, to build a new beer warehouse. forty acres valued at $32,000 per acre.

The beer business is recession proof, people drink to celebrate just as much as they do to sulk.

Sometimes I think waiters and waitresses make more money the U.S. mean average. The other night, Anna and I were out, spent a $95 something on a the meal, and gave the waitress $15 in a tip for about 10 minutes of work. I don't understand why diners are made to feel obligated to pay these workers 15-20 pct of the meal. I mean had I spent only $50 that waitress would have received $7.50 or whatever the pct'ge would have been for doing the EXACT same work.

So the frayed knot finally sets down at the bar and orders a beer. As he began to drink his beer, he hears a voice say seductively "You've got great hair!" The knot looked around but couldn't see where the voice was coming from, so he went back to his beer.

A minute later, he heard the same soft voice say "You're a handsome knot!" The knot looked around, but still couldn't see where the voice was coming from.

When he went back to his beer, the voice said again "What a stud you are!" The knot was so baffled by this that he asked the bartender what was going on.

The tender said "Oh, it's the nuts--they're complimentary."

:rofl::rofl: :drunk: lol lol lol

Yea, those beer baskets sell all year long, not matter what. We do not have a lic to sell the hard stuff.. We have customers asking to bring in their favorite hooch (hard or beer), but it is against the law for them to bring it in ...here in Tejas.

just a quick note to add to those businesses doing well beside the liquor industry is the gun business. watching a report today on tv that folks are freaked out that obama is going to try to take away their rights to own a firearm, they want to get a firearm before that happens.

i have to say that just after obama was elected, i too am in the market to purchase a firearm. anyone else looking to do so should be aware that it took quite some time to receive the FOID because of the backlog of folks doing the same thing.
