What are their reasons for this?? Other than Alstromeria, which we usually never use, what could it possibly do?
I would put that notice in the ROUND file. Good luck decorating down the cake and doing a rose fill in between all of the layers.

apparently there has been a suit filed by someone that got back to the Atty Genl. office and was assigned to the Dept of Ag.
Has to do with chemicals used in the production of growing flowers. (Maybe they read Amy Stewart's book)...
The memo was sent to me as newsletter editor for MSF&GA but the actual edict has not reached my flower shop desk nor have I received an email regarding such.
Mentioned in the memo was not just the chemicals but also "pieces of stems, greens, etc" - meaning if someone didn't remove flowers or left pieces of flowers in the cake while serving - duh....

Save your money...we use the tops from Design Master cans, their white and FREE... but that said, 90% of the cakes I do have the flowers stuck into the frosting/cake...never been an issue!
I'm alternately gasping and laughing here at the thought of jabbing flowers into the top of a wedding cake and/or eating part of it!
Yeh!! finally have a good reason to get a piece of the wedding cake. It's always been such a temptation when I decorate the cakes.
