*nods* My cousin in Red Deer is likely ecstatic. It'll be an interesting series to watch.

Calgary and tampa bay series
Calgary in seven games.
A very good series.

Lets Go Flyers!!!

...HAVE TO DISAGREE, LUC...

If the Flyers pull of a VICTORY on Sat., Flyers will "put out the flames" in 6...

Calgary is on the streak of it's season. From the forwards to the goalie, they are ALL on a great streak.

Lord Stanley's Cup

Herb,
Philly needs a goalie and it defence seems to be a bit thin; Calgary is faster and just as tough. If Philly makes it (I think Tampa's chance is probably past) Calgary should prevail; if Tampa does make it, it should be like the old days of the Flying Frenchmen, wide open and FAST (but hard to call)!
Rockin on.........

Iggy and gang looked really good last night , no rust from their week off , Lightning after the first period seemed fatigued , was a great game , for Tampa's sake hope they have some gas in left in the tank.

I guess My prediction is coming to fruit.
Who said no way on Calgary and Tampa Bay...

"CALGARY FLAMES ROCK"!!....

Lexine told me to say that...after she and my son Jason moved from Victoria to Calgary!!...they are BOTH starting to sound as IF they've lived in Calgary all their lives.
WOW.....

Be Patient Fans..

The Flames are on fire after kicking butt in Detroit but don't count Tampa out yet because of One game.

This is a Television Event with lot's of Advertising Dollars and there is alway's a way to make sure it goes to Seven Games?.

NHL needs Ratings before the lockout.

Good fans, good cities.

Congrats to Tampa Bay and Calgary for a great seven games and a big thumbs up to their fans for partying without turning their cities into war zones like Vancouver was when they lost in 94 and Montreal when they won in 93, or Washington was the last time they won the superbowl. Hopefully we will have a season in the fall and would love to see these same two teams same time next year.

I have to say, part of me wanted the Canadian team to win, but my heart was with Dave Andreychuk. 22 yrs in the league, a classy guy all around, smart player, good captain - and now his first sip of Stanley. Good on him!

That's the truth! I really didn't have my heart set on any team by the final - as long as the hockey is good, what more can you ask for?

:wide: You're kidding me, right? I hadn't realized that sports required you to be blindly nationalistic? Sure, it would have been nice for Calgary had they won - it was nice for Tampa too. NHL teams do not represent countries, they represent franchises. Having heard Calgary's Neimenen speak - he's not Canadian, neither are a lot of players. It's the same with most other sports - take the Toronto BlueJays for example - am I suppose to cheer for them because some rich guy/group in Toronto owns a ball team? Am I suppose to feel proud of them because they live in Canada X months out of the year because none of them are actually Canadian? Puhleese. That's like assuming that because I'm Canadian, I like the music of Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne or the Barenaked Ladies.

I save my patriotism and my pride for things that really do represent my country - like the Vets from D-Day or the forces in Afghanistan, Bosnia and points in between.

Spot on, Audra! Save it for when Canadians play for Canada and bring home the gold; I believe that 17 of the Tampa Players were Canadian and only 15 Calgary (not sure) so where does that come into it? If Calgary had played all game like the 10 minutes of the third period??????
Rock on................
PS ...stranger how different nationalities view patriotism differently.........

BTW, Ryan, what happened to my Avatar? I don't see it, I don't know if you can.

So let's have a show of hands.
How many Canadians here were rooting for Tampa Bay?

I had my hopes for them, it's always nice to see a team that has never won win the Cup. I'm a one-team girl - once Toronto was out, it was just hockey to me.
