Well, Ryan called the Flames the Canadian team and rightfully so.
I will root for the Yankees no matter who they are playing even if all the Yankee players were born in Boston. I'm sure all the Boston fans feel the same way about their team. They represent you and where you live. And if the Yankees are not playing, I'll root for the Mets. Likewise for the Knicks, Giants and Rangers.
