Design table... or "Ask the Designer"...

Here's a picture of our design area in our Minocqua store. It's all the way to the back and our customers have to walk past the counter to get there. If our sales people are doing their jobs, they're greeting the customers before they reach the back and asking them if they need help. That diverts some of question asking and such for the desinger. They may still go watch or ask a question or two, but the designer doesn't have to stop and take their order, etc.

Maybe the trick in being able to put yourself out there with the customers is: use someone that doesn't know every person in town so you don't have to hear about each and every issue in their lives. Mark, I would think you would have the problem of knowing too many people if you work out front.

That's my biggest problem when my husband is in the store and not out delivering. He TALKS soooo darn much to everyone and everyone knows him I can't take an order without interrupting and asking my husband ( nicely ) to shut up!! It can be rough. Our old work room customers could see us but because there was a door there that they would have to walk thru it made the customer stop at the thresh hold and not come into the workroom
