Just got email from TF advertising Dahlias.

this could be case in point of a big sender advertising unfillable products.

we stock them when my neighbor's wonderful patch gets them rolling and looking out my window I can see they aren't ready.

How many shops stock dahlias this week for instance?

Been available here for about 3 weeks now...

Sadly it looks like Zenia's may not make it this year...

I have them right now, a whole wedding with Dahlia's. Got some from my wholesaler and some locally. The rainy weather has not helped here as far as the locally grown product is concerned. My dahlia's are lovely!

Hate dahlias only get them in if someone orders them in something on my site....and only if I have too.

Here in the northwest dahlias are prolific this time of year. I can get local varieties through the Oregon Flower Growers Association for $5/7 stems. 4 of my next 5 weddings feature dahlias.

Don't shoot me, but my neighbor has a HUGE dahlia garden, and she sells them to me 6 stems $1. I go cut them right off the bushes the morning I want to use them.

I love dahlias - have a hard time getting them to grow, but they are a gorgeous flower.

They are around Boston. Wholesale cost 5-7 a bunch. I got them last two weeks. Not this week yet. Best sold in a few days. The ones I have seen are NJ grown.
I saw a Telefora order come through from Tel.com. Total 41 I think. Second choice similar flowers and style.

I've been getting them for about 4 weeks now. I especially love the dark burgandy/wine color one. Customers always ask "Is that real?" Dahlias have been really good this year. I love when they're in season.

They are available from our wholesaler but I usually buy them from a local
farmer. The farmer has a better selection. Love all the colors.

I'm a dahlia hater as well, only stock them when requested.
:faint: Whaaaat?! That's crazy talk!

I love dahlias... so many colors, styles, and shapes to choose from. (At least in my neck of the woods)

I think they're possibly my favorite flowers and my neighbor who grows prize ones all shapes sizes and colors - for shows sells them to us for 50 cents a stem, but also it's only for about 2 months a year.

I don't think they could be shipped without damage.

I wish we had them year round.

But - according to this poll, I guess I should put them on my site.

As far as Dahlias shattering......I don;t know of this would work or not, but there is an old-timer's trick for large spider and football mums we used to do that might work.

It's called 'waxing' - You take an old candle.....ideally the same color as the flower.....light it.....then tip the lit end and let the hot wax drip onto the back of the flower where the petals join the calyx.......the hot wax solidifies and helps to hold the petals securely.

I have NEVER tried it on dahlias and it has been ages since I had to wax a football mum.....so I have no idea how effective it might be.
