Don't read this if you are faint of heart, concerning cats

I used to take Carsen, the love sponge, to the shop where I worked... he loved the attention and the people were not threatened by him at all. He's a loveable and quiet Sh itzu who commands the room by his very presense. :)

Awww, I have a blue heeler that my mom and dad stole...er, I mean adopted from me when I moved into my husband's house. He likes to run and where I live now there is just no room.

I told my mom I was stealing him back when we got our new house built but I almost bet I'd have to fight her for him. He's the sweetest thing and thinks he is a lap dog. The guy that I got him from named him Tim and every day when my dad gets home from work hey says, "Hello Tim! Tim...what a name for a dog."

We love our heeler, got him after the lab died and I said "no more dogs". Then one morning I got up and counted 14 deer in the yard eating all the perennials and then they mowed off all the beans in the garden.

Bandit loves to ride in the car to take the girl to school, plays a mean game of soccer and keeps everyone in line.... :)

Oh shoot my first attempt at loading a picture and he is sideways..... Just tilt your head :)

Oh, Inka that is too funny! Tim plays soccer too :) I remember the first time I saw him out rolling a basketball around the yard and I went and bought him a soccer ball...he's got game :) Oh, and don't even think of going near him with a water hose, that's when the real fun begins!

Bandit is adorable...That's it, I'm stealing back my dog fair and square ;)

Remember, posession is only nine tenths of the law... the other tenth belongs to the lawless... go and get him. ;)

There is a great comic strip called Mutts. I try not to miss it each day. Today's was priceless. The cat was teaching a class on cat language to dogs... the gist was the focus on the ME in meow. ;) Very true. Sadly I can't have a dog right now because it would traumatize my Elmo, but he's such a huge part of my life that is quite alright. He greets me at the door, leads me up the stairs and talks all the way... I know he's likely saying "feed me NOW", but that's ok too. He also crawls under the blankets in the colder nights and snuggles in close. Keeps me nice and warm. :)

What a beautiful girl she is!

Beth :~)

We do do cat adpotions out of the shop, we have found homes for 137 cats and kittens. I've only brought home three to live to old age.

I did have Lizzy (after lisanthus) at the shop with me most days. She was raised from the age of 2 weeks in the flower shop and then commuted daily for 2 or 3 years. She loves to ride.

She likes to go outside and hunt too much so we let her stay home now. Too much traffic where my store is to even consider letting her out there. She is clearly happy here at home in a fairly wooded area. Plus she can annoy the other 6 cats we have :)

Here's Sam

Since we're sharing pics of our kitties, here is our Sam. He's the most loving, cuddly boy. He's really the best cat I've ever had, and I've had a lot over the years. He's an indoor kitty, cuz I hate dealing with fleas, and we live near a busy street. I want him to live to be an old man!

Orange tabbies always have the nicest personality. I'm sure he gets his from you though!! :flowerfac

Shop I used to work in had the biggest german shepherd you've ever seen! It was the most laid back thing ever! Used to roll around the floor wanting his belly rubbed!

Ive always said I wanted a dog for the shop. To keep me company if nothing else. I have a large workshop area and store, plus a side entry which is fenced off, so would let it wander there free.

Ill try and attatch a picture of my parent's weirmeraner, Kobi. He is the daftest thing but the biggest suck up i've ever met! He's a LOT bigger now but don't have any up to date pictures of him.

I love weimeraner's, and heelers and dobs and greyhounds and poopzus and and and... :) My side business name is "Happy Tails"... I love animals. And I wish I could figure out how to load a picture so I could do a drag and brag on Elmo. :)

This thread is turning into a happier one and I'm glad.

I don't know how to post pics either, V. But one of the days when Audra and I are both in, I'm going to get her to show me. I have an 11 month old golden retriever puppy named Angel that I like to show off. And I too, would have a lot more animals in my life if I only had a place for them. My apartment fits me, one dog and one cat quite nicely for now.

:) In understand completely what you are saying Gudrun. My little place is a happy haven for me and Elmo. The Poopzu would be most welcome by me, but Elmo has issues. ;) Plus, he has seniority and therefore has the last vote.

Erlene, could you be nicer? I don't think so!

Gudrun and Victoria,

It's easy! Just type your reply as usual, then scroll down. Below the reply box is a thing that says Additional Options - Attach Files. Click on "Manage Attachments". A box will then open up on top of your reply. You can either upload a file from your computer or from a URL... usually I'd think it would be from your computer. So click on Browse to find the picture on your computer. Click on your picture, then click Open. Then click "Upload" on the "Manage Attachments" box. Then "Close this Window". Finish typing your reply, then "Submit Reply", and Voila, it'll be in there. Honest.

See? I attached an Easter funny while I was typing how to do it, and there it is.

I need a dose of human kindness tonight.

On my way home from the gym I passed a young woman standing in the road, with a phone, crying her heart out, and a Jack Russel at her feet. I turned around as soon as I safely could and went back.

The poor little fellow had been hit by a bus. He was gone. I knew we had to move Davidson and us out of harms way as the traffic wasn't inclined to stop. I finally managed to pick him up and get him to the lawn. The girl went in and got a sheet for me to wrap him up.

The London Transit came by to fill out a report and offer sympathy (the man who came had tears in his eyes as he had just lost his dog), and another man did stop to see if there was anything he could do.

It wasn't the driver's fault, it wasn't the young woman's fault... it just happened that Davidson pulled and the leash slipped from her hand... an awful accident.

The girl is devastated and feels so guilty as she was looking after the dog for her Mom and brother. She is distraught because the image flashes before her and she says "if only I'.

I'm shocked and saddened by the lack of compassion by those who just drove by or blasted their horns because they were inconvenienced by this little dogs passing.

I wonder about the planet and the people she and I saw today.

V

Victoria,

I'm so so sorry you had to deal with this today. But I'm so happy that you did stop, and that you did care. Some people are too wrapped up in their little worlds. I'm sure your kindness helped the young woman more than you'll ever know.

((((Hugs))))

Beth :~(

Thank you Beth. I just can't get over people driving around a person in obvious distress. All I can think of is my daughter. I would hope that someone would help her if she needed it.

I'm saddened by Davidson... but to be honest I'm more upset by the lack of compassion.
Even at my age, I find being disappointed by people so hard to take.

Rainbow Bridge

Victoria, perhaps you can pass this on to the young girl if you have a way:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
