While TELEFLORA might have turned you over to a SLIP and FALL ATTORNEY, they in turn farmed your disputable debt collection over to a COLLECTION AGENCY!
Sometimes, the COLLECTION AGENT rents space in the Attorney's Office or vice versa.
You don't need to hire an attorney! You just need to stick to your guns and tell that caller what you really owe. After which, you need to fax the proof of what you owe to both the collection agent with copies or email to Teleflora.
Add to your letter that, you will only pay what you owe, and at such time as they send you their agreement to ACCEPT THAT AMOUNT as PAYMENT IN FULL for any and all outstanding obligations to TELEFLORA, you are perfectly willing to meet them in court.
They must file their judgment suit against you in a court which is located in your area, not theirs.
Believe me when I say that, it's much more work for them than it is for you.
Collection Agencies are controlled by Federal and State Regulations and they cannot harass a debtor.
YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE FTC REGULATIONS
INTIMIDATION is their WEAPON OF CHOICE, but do not fall victim to it!
And DO NOT BELIEVE THE BS Teleflora tries to tell you that, once your account has been turned over to THEIR ATTORNEY, it's out of their hands!

That would take way too long, and sorry it took so long to respond. Have a friend runnin a rig down to West Virginia tonight. Was keeping him focused and awake.

Need to take this to the next level. Curious as to who would turn out from Long Island.
Any meeting, on Long Island, with Real Florists would have to be WS free, or I could not attend.

Jim is in fact the current Pres of Long Island Retail.
I do like Jim. He's a great guy, as you would probably agree, BUT...................... !

I concur with your thoughts that Jim is a great Guy! Then again, my old FTDA acquaintance DICK, was a great guy too!
One thing that always stuck in my mind, was the statement which DICK made to me and after he made a lateral move from FTDA over to RFS (Redbook Floral Services) and before Teleflora purchased them in 1997. After which, he made a move back to FTDI, oh my!

With NO excuse what so ever, DICK told me that: " MY ALLEGIANCE IS TO THE COMPANY WHO SIGNS MY CHECK! " In the end, the guy didn't really care if it was FTDA, RFS, or FTDI!
Well, his statement said it all! Point in fact was that, all of the years we had shared in the old FTDA and ones in which, we really thought of this guy as more of a friend than just an employee of a company, the reality was that, TOTO was snookered into believing that, this person had any allegiance to ANYONE (any florist) other than HIMSELF!
And so, and even with Jim, I would suspect that, his allegiance would be the same as well! I don't fault him for his order of priorities, but I do question the Long Island Retail Florist's Association for theirs.
Hey, ya know what? It's a strange new world out here now! It seems that, not only is there NO ALLEGIANCE to ANYONE ANYMORE, the reality is that, anyone seems to more than willing to SLEEP WITH THEIR ENEMIES and regardless of the fact that, they are fully aware that, THEIR ENEMIES ARE OUT TO S-C-R-E-W them!
At my own local wholesaler today, I witnessed them selling to a School, a Restaurant, a Department Store, and a Seminary.
Another REAL FLORIST I was with, pointed out to the salesman that, the Seminary with the two wanna bee priests, now wanna bee FLORAL DESIGNERS on a mission of mercy, used to buy from his florist, but now they buy direct from his own Whoresailor.
The Department Store has an account with them and purchases fresh flowers for their displays. And the Restaurant, having approached me six months ago to supply flowers to them on a weekly basis, wound up setting up their own account with my own whoresailor. And the SCHOOL? Just one of many, plus a gaggle of BASEMENT BETTY'S.
Sure, I've complained to them about CROSSING THE LINE, but the fact is, THEY, like MOST WHORESAILORS only care about THE CASH, and so, they are more than happy to sell to ANYONE FOR THE CASH! Just give them a TAX ID NUMBER (anyone's) and they're good to go! CA CHING CA CHING!
Like the WSs, it's a short term solution to THEIR OWN LONG RANGE DISASTER!
They just can't understand that, THEY ARE BITING OFF THE HANDS THAT FEEDS THEM!

So guys, answer a question for me, was Jim elected or appointed president by the members of the association or did he just appoint himself president?
Seems to me if he was elected or appointed to this position by the members of LIRFA then there isn't a whole lot of room for judgement there.
