I know there are a lot of feelings about wire services... but I think Flowers & really does some amazing designs in their magazines. Their normal subscription cost is $54, but they have an introductory rate that they allow us to buy subscriptions at because we are an advertiser. It is $42. If you can't get it through their subscriptions department, let me know, I can get it for you through my ad sales rep.

Even though I am not Canadian, I like the business articles in Canadian Florist. And they have a very useful website. www.canadianfloristmag.com.

BTW, I did email the ad sales rep at Fleurish... waiting for a response. I am kind of worried. The website on her business card is not functional. Not a good sign!

I don't mind that....I'm a very visual person and I love EYE CANDY!! Bring them on...

Aileen, It depends on what you want from the magazine.

Floral Management - not so much design, but geared to the business of flowers.

Florist's Review - not so much wild and crazy artistic floral sculpture design.....but good business, practical tips, and good sellable design.

Profil Floral - A good European inspiration magazine with some great marketing and display from the european point of view.

Profil Basics - A good magazine covering the how-to's of european style design.

Flora Magazine - The closest magazine I have found to the PFD magazine.

Flowers& - some design basics, some high art design, but geared heavily to Teleflora and Telefora product.

If PFD was still in production......no question about it.....PFD ( Professional Floral Designer ) all the way.

Since Teleflora discontinued PFD after the AFS and TF merger.......I would recommend aileen to go with either Profil or Profil basics in addition to FR.

Flower and Wholesale buyer, i really look forward to my copy of that and read it cover to cover, along with the business briefing and inspire mags that come with it.

Also like the wedding flowers magazine but dont get as excited as some of the designs are repeated now and i find that they are filling it lately with dresses and cakes etc etc...

I've never read PFD (published before my time) but I heard that it was THE BEST industry magazine!

Maybe someone ought to resurrect this PFD!! I'm curious now and will go hunt Ebay....;)

I had the great fortune to read some of the PFD issues- wow.. I agree with Rick- it was the best!

I have Florist Review and Floral Management.. I've read a couple issues of Superfloral Retailing.. it's good too.

I have a few issues of Flower Inspirations- I love it and it's on my wish list to receive again, as well as Profile Basics and Profile (Florist Review used to put out a Profile Basics Concepts- all four issues combined into one book. I have 2 of those.. wish they would do that again! hint hint hint..if anyone's reading...

Oh Ricky, I don't know about that. Theres a little novelty stuff, but really not a lot. I wouldn't buy it if It were. I cannot stand novelty stuff.
The designs in Flowers and are much more contemporary than they used to be. It's a very impressive magazine if ya ask me.

Leenie, FYI, Profil is a very expensive magazine, and extremly high art, contemporary magazine, pretty over the top, and the only ones I've ever seen were in dutch., I think it was dutch any way.
I think it's like $100 for 4 issues, but I could be wrong.

I also like Flora magazine. They are out of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Subburb of Albuquerque. I think I was actually in Flora magazine last year, but I'm not sure,,, Someone came to take pictures when I was helping with the NMSFA convention and also for when I won the zia cup, but like I said, I don't know, kinda forgot about it till just now.

My personal subscriptions are Bride and bloom and flowers&. I cannot live with out them. I would love to subscribe to Profil if I could find it in English. and I keep wanting to subscribe to Flora, but I keep forgetting. Also I get flowers& for $42, and I don't advertise in it.

Also, another good point of reference as far as trends is home decor magazines. Home decor really will tell ya what the new hottest trends coming up will be.
Pretty much how trends go are: First fashion, then home decor, then floral will follow.

HTH.

OMG....I just bought some PFD stuff from Ebay and I think it's from someone on FC??

:bangles:I'm so jealous! you will love them- no matter what style is featured in your new magazines, there will be timeless design information on every page!

Shannon- I believe you can order the profile magazines in English from the Florist Review bookstore

is it Profile or Profil?

Cause I want the Profil magazine.

PFD is only the best if you are a designer.

It bored me.
