The flowers & is a good resource for someone like yourself. Chances are you are going to be starting out as an everyday designer in a shop. Basic order filling and common wire service items are likely to be part of your experience. I say this because IIRC you are still young in your career and needing experience. There is something to be learned from doing routine order filling well. In many shops it's the bread and butter. W/S containers will be on shelves in many stores you may apply for. Use every resource available to you to hone your craft.
Design books are wonderful for inspiration, and others highlight the business aspect. Honestly, there is something to be gained from any of them even if it's the vendor listings in the back pages.
Even Martha Stewart's magazine will keep you on top of trendy colors, current styles, and basic floral design. Same with Better Homes and Gardens. Remember what seems common or ordinary to you is not the customers perception, and thes mags are available to the consumer with big money spent on research and layout.
Look for a package this week or beginning of next.
