Floral Lock!!

I had a cascading bridal bouquet to make today. I use floral lock, but it is so messy and I am always worried that I missed a stem. Just curious, do all of you lock after the bouquet is made, or can you lock as you are designing???
Any tricks to get the stick thing into and around the flowers without getting lock on the blooms?

Carrieann, You stressed that it is a cascade bouquet. My advise, always wire the tail /Cascading portion of the bouquet. I wouldn't rely on floral lok to secure these stems, then floral lok the body of the bouquet. I believe there was a previous thread on wiring cascades. Lastly, I think a cascade where the tail is wired actually has better movement & flexability. any one agree? Have a nice Sunday! Debbie

My wholesaler gives out extra flora-lock spray tubes when you buy it. After you're done using, just let it dry, don't turn upside down to clean or anything. Next time you use, just snip off the very tip--works great! Insert extra tube when you have snipped it off too short to be usable.

Glue in intervals, (after each set of flowers is inserted, for example, after roses, after fillers, etc).

I also put a dab of glue in alstromeria and the center of lily to help them keep their petals on.

I 'flora locked' all of the bouquets i made last weekend and did not have a messy problem.. after each one was made i held it up and did several short squirts pointing the straw into the middle of the bouquet and then small squirts around the edge. i don't know.. maybe i'm not using enough? but, it seemed to cover everything and no messes anywhere. I love this stuff(we didn't use it where I worked before)..it reminds me of that insulation in a can stuff.. the way it expands

Oasis Glue

I can't be near the stuff, makes the Queen very ill, because of the smell, and as for the floral lock, I only use it, when the chicklets rent places with no AC> but cascading are not the most popular request, unless, the chick seen on that I have done in the past then the calls come in, Just and FYI how much do you start yours at??

I always use floral lock, it is also important to really anchor ivy and long foliage since they can easily get tangled. I am constantly amazed at how much abuse bouquets actually get!! Have fun!!
