Floral Source?

Karen,
You will not regret your decision to not join Floral Source. I was a member until spring, 2010 and 85-90% of the orders that I received were from OG's. Every month, with the monthly statement, a newsletter was included that listed all the new member and all the members who had left. Among the new members one month was an online shoe store (really, a shoe store). I find it incredible that the rep doesn't know who there members are. In my opinion, you have saved yourself much grief.

Best wishes,
Anne

Anne, you are so right. The 'shoe store' happens to be part of a huge online shopping network. Their florist website is floraflora . com (no links since I don't want them to see traffic from FC.)

FloralFlora advertises 'free delivery by you local florist' and FTD filed a complaint against that advertising with the National Advertising Division of the BBB. According to a document from the NAD (no longer available online) FloraFlora's WS - FSI (though not named in the document) backed them up to tell the BBB that the advertising was TRUE. FTD lost the complaint. (You know I'm no fan of FTD, but they called this complaint right.)

I cannot believe a single FSI member shop ever agreed to deliver for 'free'. The company talks a good game, but they put their dollars behind OGs competing unfairly against local florists.

We were a member of FSI when we first started using MAS since they had an easy credit card clearing interface with the system. The orders coming in were primarily from dOGs - the kind that use fake local addresses and city doorway pages and some of the orders were skimmed by 20%. We found different CC processing and never looked back.

Cathy,
I looked at the floraflora website which lists the parent company (IAC) at the bottom. Boy, you're right - quite a network (online dating, online directories, etc.). I'm with you - I highly doubt that any florist delivered for free. Unbelievable that FTD lost the complaint. I have not yet read John Carruther's open letter on Facebook yet, but I know that all my conversations with reps at FSI left me believing that their culture was exactly as you stated: talks a good game, but invests their energies/dollars in online affiliates.

Yep.... Too many dOG's in the kennel for me...

Double-speak has been an issue in this industry for way to long... Someone needs to choose the high road over $$ otherwise florists are gonna build their own highway.

The BBB is the biggest waste of money ever invented, they are nothing but shills for those who pay them.
