Florist.com....ugh

Isn't everything done and shot by wire services labeled cookie cutter by default?
Not by me. We still have a few TF images on our site. Some of the latest TF releases are gorgeous. (not that most florists would have the flowers in stock to fill them...)

I don't think anyone says that arrangements are poorly done (at least not most of them). It's their appearance on multiple sites in the same geographic area, and on walmart.com and many, many OG sites - all with the same product names & descriptions - that keep a bunch of local florists from being found in search and make them look all the same when they are found.

Got to thinking about this site..florist.com and the inexpensive pricing and how MS at FTD is trying different ways to compete with PF...we have done just the oppostite..we raised our prices on our website and seem to have more orders than before.I think in general that the website user may not find the "quality" in a cheaper price...to me it might be all about perception of value...kinda of like " what is a 30 floral arrangment really going to look like...I think FTD is missing the boat...am I thinking from the backside of my brain or do you find that you sell more higher priced items on your site than the less expensive ones...also I changed my pricing from "shown, premium and deluxe to "economy, premium and deluxe...just wording but it works..who wants to send economy...sound cheap doesn't it...what do you think?

It looks like florist.com is just a merchant site for affiliate marketing. The site does have the "Affiliate Program." I don't know why FTD isn't using its own "mother site" (FTD.com) as the merchant site. Maybe they are just testing the concept without taking a risk of damaging the FTD brand.

Let's say you have your own personal blog site. Let's say you become an affiliate of florist.com (which is free). Your blog site now acts as an "advertiser" for florist.com. If someone purchased something from florist.com through your site, you would earn some commission. In reality, I think it's much more complex, but this is more/less how affiliate marketing works.

It's good for you, advertiser, because it can generate the revenue for your site. It's VERY good for the merchant (florist.com), because they pay you only AFTER the actual sales.

There are millions of millions of affiliate sites all over the Internet, such as most adult sites, personal blogs, comparison shopping sites, news sites, etc, etc. It's potentially a huge source of Internet marketing.

Yo've got to admit. FTD may be evil but is not a fool.
