FTD, Batesville, SCI and bypassing the florists

I called one of the local mortuaries with an FTD link on their site yesterday. Asked if he noticed the link had been added. He said he heard about the program but hadn't paid attention to the page. He confirmed the FTD program was an 'opt-out' for Batesville hosted sites and not an 'add-in'.
Was checking on a service time on this mortuary's site this morning. Spotted the pink floral "Send Flowers" link on the home page and much to my surprise, the link now leads to info about the local flower shop. The link to FTD.com is gone. :)

It really is 'just one FH at a time'.

I tried to have this conversation with a couple of funeral directors on Sunday while we were setting up flowers for two different services.

I only just got to say "FTD.com" when they both just took over the conversation about how much they despise them, and this is not the same Funeral Home were the director told me "I'm a Funeral Director, not a florist.

LOVE IT. These are all independent fh so far......

This is a chance for you to educate your customers. Go get a price list from your local SCI funeral homes in town( fed laws require they have a written price list) Pretend to be shopping for an uncle about to die! They capture flowers by selling a "package" deal supposedly discounted. If you add the individual items in the package, I saw a $3400 difference in Raleigh NC. Tell your families to buy ala carte and flowers from you. You will all make out better price wise.

Just my two cents.
