I recently did my quarterly update on my mercury X system and noticed something new in the florist directory. There is a new column listed as status. When I brought up my town my shop was listed as preferred. Also noticed other shops that service my town were listed as preferred also. Checking out my parents shop listing I found that their status was listed as normal. They are the only ftd shop in their town. Yet 3 preferred florists that are out of town are listed before them. Needless to say, my folks were not amused seeing that mother's day is around the corner and ftd decides to f-around with listings (that we pay for!!). My father called many and I mean many people at FTD and received possible opinions but no real answers. He finally got a hold of someone in tech. that indicated that there is a 'possible glich' in the "order life cycle program" - by distoring your listing by placing preferred florists above normal listed florists. I know this is confusing, but if you are on mercury x - check your listing in your town to see your placement and status. The real question is what makes a florist "preferred" compared to "normal"?

IF YOU have FTD'S technology, and your "competitors" do NOT, YOU are the "preferred" florist of choice.
DON'T take the crap that FTD "feeds" you...just plain threaten them...enough already!!

Hmmmm....

We're on Merc X.1

You ask what makes a florist preferred or normal?

Isn't it because we mark them that way!?

Click next to the word preferred or normal...and a drop down box descends which allows to grade the shop...

Preferred shops in a city are listed first...then normal....then not preferred...all depending on how we've graded the shop over time...

I would agree with most of what you said, however, according to FTD it is based on what system mercury you have. Any mercury direct or lower than 7.0 I believe, the shop gets marked as normal. I can always go in and change the status but for my father who has merc direct is now listed 4th in the town he is in below shops that are out of town. He is the only ftd shop in his town.

ok...now I'm confused, do you have Merc Direct, or a Mercury Processing "system"??

No chit...they are STILL working on it!

Have to phone everything out...
Don't tell me.. .they're "still working on it"...what the same thing they have been for the last 5 years? Funny how things always seem to break right before the Mother of them all...

Sorry, I admittedly have a wild hair for FTD this week...

Tell your pa like this...go to your OWN listing on the florist search function, and at the bottom, there's a little "pull down" box that has "priority settings, click on that little box, and highlite the "preferred" category!!

So, are they having trouble going from Mercury x to Mercury x.1????? Haven't gotten my Mercury x.1 upgrade yet but, not sure if I want to install it sounds like.

Apparently just me...& it happens every upgrade.

They've got it to the point now that the only thing not working is my faxed DelCons.

Why this changed my settings for faxing...not sure...

FTD Mercury Direct Users

Get ready for new technology & FTD grabbing more service charges out of your pocket. We recently discovered that we were listed 4th for our town in the new FTD POS update (even tho we are the only shop in our town that's FTD. The other 3 shops are in other towns and are catagorized as "preferred" and we are designated "normal". The FTD POS update, automatically designated those shops as "Preferred".
When using FTD POS to select a florist, not the Mercury Direct System, seems FTD has instituted an order life cycle program (short for pushing FTD Mercury Direct users out of business or into higher technology systems along with higher fees.)_ For all us Mercury Direct shops, we are being displaced by "Preferred" florists (many times out of our area) and often unaware of what is being shoved upon us. If you've seen your incoming numbers dropping, it just might be the "Preferred" florist is filling an order meant for your town. If you are a Mercury Direct user & don't have access to a shop with FTD POS, you are unaware of this new program. Nice this was done in time for Mother's Day when you already have purchased your FTD containers.

That would be a real pain in the ass to have our preferred florist lists change with directory updates IMHO.

Or - their "quality star" program??? :grovel:

I just installed the new FTD disc. I noticed that I was not marked preferred and that 3 other shops in Santa Cruz were marked preferred.
I called FTD and was told that only florists with Merc 10.0 or higher were marked preferred. Apparently if you have Merc 10.0 (or higher) you can show the arrangements progress--- downloaded, arranged, being delivered. And that the sending florist can check their Merc 10.0 to see the progress of the arrangement. Is this true? I asked him whose bright idea this was? I can't believe you are marked preferred just because you have the latest downloaded Merc.:wallhead::wallhead::wallhead::wallhead:
And now these luxury arrangements. If I didn't have another year to pay off my computers, I would dump FTD.
