FTD - Shop Listing

It appears that FTD considers a shop "preferred" if the shop has invested in the Merc technology.

The shop is not simply a member, but has gone a step further and invested in the newest POS system.

This investment by the shop generates profit for FTD.

The reward to the shop for this investment is the preferred listing.

Makes sense to me...or am I missing something? :hammer:

Yes preston. You're missing something.

If FTD is really concerned, as they should be, about quality, consistency and reliability, they should be sending their orders and referring others to the florists who are most likely to produce the best results, not florists who buy into the most programs.

The powers at FTD think marketing and packaging are far more important than substance of product and quality of service. I think that's a big mistake on their part as the consumer will quickly be able to see past those glossy boxes and gold bows.

Yes RC, but are those qualities measurable to the average shop looking to send?

I'm sure FTD has their "preferred list" of filling shops, as do most large senders.

For the average shop that hasn't developed this list however, they will simply go to the top of the list when looking to send, wouldn't you think?

And the reward of filling more incoming by being at the top justifies the technology purchase, therefore no buyer remorse.

You buy the technology...you get to fill more incoming!!!

Definitely a "win-win" scenario for most...

Along with what Randy said, what about:

- You buy more directory ads, you get more incomings

- You buy more ASBs, toll-free-listings, expanded listings - you get more incoming

- Your shop is at the top of the city rotation, you get more incomings

- You buy a load of codified products, you get more incoming

???

When FTD changes the 'preferred incoming' 'rules', don't you think they ought to let all their florists know?
