Wall Street
Over the recent past, Wall Street has been very upbeat, even in the face of some disturbing news in the overall American economy. All that has changed with the December sales reports and the fact that the American consumer is holding back on buying. FTD is a company driven by consumer sales.
And Wall Street is sometimes slow to catch on to companies. They usually believe what the CEO's say about the company and then do their research. I think Wall Street has finally caught on to FTD. I would be very surprised to see the stock move up given the fact that they are finally figuring out how FTD works and the blunders it has made on it's florist side and on the consumer side.
Remember Big Mike a couple of years ago, made comments to Wall Street insiders that FTD was basically turning it's back on it's florist business, looking to grocery store chains for new growth and back then the direct to the consumer side was showing gains. Could this be the reason Big Mike is giving up the CEO position? Rats usually jump off a sinking ship.
Well I'll be....
So if Wall Street thinks their model is "fundamentally broken" could it be that it's only a matter of time before they go bust...and I would think this would not be good news to any prospective future buyer.
