Butterfield vs Proflowers

Butterfield's Affiliate (skim fee) program only pays 8-10%.
Proflowers pays a Whopping 15% skim fee.

We are not FTD and I wonder why we are Teleflora?????

THere is another slap in the face for FTD florists.
We all have our pros and cons about wire service. We all have our views about the other wire service.
How many people in FTD will realize that FTD is selling directly to the consumers with drop shipment directly to their door by passing the real florist.
I heard it can be as high as 1,500 orders a day during major holidays.
Now figure that one out....

And Teleflora is not ??? Well maybe not yet (perhaps) but THEY WILL BE by fall !

The removal of Coccari is the first step in that direction...

That said, while I do not personally like it either, I see it as competing against 800 and PF, remember FTD is a for profit company these days, folks need to get over the past, cuz it will never come back....

I'm over the past ...

And at PRESENT FTD is the OG - and actively growing that side of the business.

As long as TF isn't, they'll have my business. If that changes - they won't.

Whne I was talking to a big cheese at teleflora, there was no direction of this happening in Canada.
I may now eat my shorts, but today FTD is doing more numbers in that direction that real florist can do instead.

When they tell Grower's Direct/Floraworld to suck mossy rocks, then I'll be impressed. Until then Teleflora is still in a glass house.

But you may agree with me or not, FTD is getting a lot worse than teleflora.
and it is pretty hard to kick someone out when they have been around for ages, but ftd and teleflora have the choice on who they are getting for members now days.

Hard to say, Luc. Last time Richard was in, I griped about Floraworld - I was told they weren't TF anymore, they were FTD. Guess what, I got three TF orders from them today - doesn't look very 'not TF'.

Both of the Big 2 are out to make $$$ and I'm really not sure that one is more honorable than the other. Jury is still out here, especially after talking to Lisa. We'll see how we feel in a few months - see if this little chat does any good.

Thing is in MY opinion, and you all know where I stand, is that while we may not like what FTD is currently doing, at least they tell you they are doing it, and do not try to hide anything. Case in point, the site JB put up, Buterfieldblooms... could have simply been registered as a Proxy site, with the ownership info unavaiable to the public, but that was not done. Also they tell you they are going after biz...

TF on the other hand says "We will NOT compete" all the while doing exactly the opposite with FlowerClub, Sears and a whole slew of other order generation venues...

Yes, FTD is competing, but in truth they are competing to gain market share for both themselves and the FTD florists alike, and at the same time trying to slow down 800 and PF among others...

I see the change of guard at TF as the first step in their new direction of direct competition with EVERYONE, including their members. Remember Gregg was the one saying "WE will not compete" and now Gregg's gone. I know for a fact that Mike Wyman will not hold to that mantra, as TF has lost more market share in the last 12 months than ever before in its history.

"Yes, FTD is competing, but in truth they are competing to gain market share for both themselves and the FTD florists alike."

IMO, the more precise statement would be "FTD is competing to gain market share for themselves and drive more discounted orders to their florists." Otherwise, the coupon drop for McDonald's would have been honored by them for orders placed through their members. Please show me where direct promotion of members is a priority (or even on the radar.)

"I know for a fact that Mike Wyman will not hold to that mantra, as TF has lost more market share in the last 12 months than ever before in its history."

Well, they've cleared almost 2/3 off all wire orders for the last few years, despite FTD gobbling up the biggest senders (like NationalFlora.) Goodness knows what promises were made to Karin's to cause their defection.

I'm curious how you 'know' of a new TF direction....

There is nothing to BE KNOWN about the change at TF until Mike W puts his stamp on things. Gregg was not the only one in the organization who was/is pro-florist.

FTD is actively growing their OG business.

TF acquired FlowerClub years ago, cut the non-floral product, and refused to sell it to 800-Flowers or FTD. Aside from acquiring FlowerClub as part of a larger purchase, they are not actively pursuing or acquiring order gatherers. Safeway is an old member, but they are not signing up grocery chains. This is all public knowledge!

If I wanted to be part of an organization that grew market share to feed me discounted orders, I'd join Bloomlink!

I have bets on the table right now about TF.com staying non-competitive. Anyone who wants to double-up, step on up to the table. Money follows mouth :)

You are on! Although, I think it will be a little further out...a few months. maybe.
