Need a break from the heat...
Tis on it's way...actually had to turn the fans off this morning...got below 70 here, and is just now at 70 this morning...

After 3 nights of 108 in my apartment, I'm ready for a break... of a major kind. I'm hating this, but hey it's worse for those in the mid-east carrying all manner of god awful equipment... still I'm hating this.

my daughter's.....

stag and doe was in a hall with no a/c last weekend.....
this "cold front" would have been welcome relief then too, but, the damage done by the violent weather fronts, and the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of people WITHOUT power/hydro up here is absolutely awful!!

It was a heck of a storm here last night. The light show was spectacular, but the end result, by comparison to a lot of Ontario and Quebec is nothing.

Some were without power in London, but not for long.

Now Boys and Girls...
you know you're always welcome to visit us here on The Rock for a few weeks BUT you need a permit to stay permanently in this 20C NON humid paradise :>

Hugh... I'm straining to hear this sound.... is it... could it be... I do believe I hear you gloating there on the Rock. ;)

V

Gee V, I wouldn't gloat! ;)
Actually, after watching the news from Europe, across Canada and the US of the terrible heat wave we're glad that we don't have to deal with it. The last time I had to deal with 35C+ humidity was in TO about 8 years ago and decided then I'd never want to experience it again (the yellow air didn't help either!)

Mike, ummm, LOTS ! Everyone's welcome!!!

Rock, signing off from Paradise (actually 75kms away) on The Rock :calidream

You're right Hugh... it is gross.

The sky has been wringing itself out today... in torrents. I can't believe how lush and green everything is at this date in the summer.

Enjoy your paradise... I'm glad it and you are part of Canada. :)

Thank you V!

Just miserable!! Heat index has been over 105 for at least 7 days now.

Yeah, we finally cooled a bit today after the worst lightening storm I have seen in a year...I mean HUGE bolts. I was in the middle of a consultation and had to move away from the window..and it rained like dark grey sheets...then sunshine...all in a matter of two hours. Hope the temp stays down...even the pool is too hot to get into...now that stinks! You drive thru neighborhoods and all you hear is the humming of ac's...just think, last year we had the humming of generators...hmmmm....hope we get by without that sound this year!
Sher

Are you fibbing????? It's so hOt you can cook an egg on the BBT.....
Sher

Nope, not fibbing Sher. It was a god awful soup of heat, humidity, smog and surly people.

However, the light show we had was incredible... and yes the rain fell in constant ribbons. The air is blessedly dry today, by comparison.

I too hope you don't have the sound of generators this year. :)

We have had two bouts with massive severe thunderstorms this week. On Tuesday (had spent 5 hrs at the ER with 90 year old mother in law) left the hospital at 11:20 pm to walk out the door to tornado warnings and when I stepped out to the parking lot, it was like being in a big bowl with fire ringing the lid of the bowl. The air was freaky, very "close" and clammy, no wind, just dead sitting air. I quickly took my daughter home and had to get home to take dog out who had been waiting since supper time (5:30). Needless to say all he$$ broke loose and pup didn't even step out the door until 1 a.m. Lost power three times and the most unbelievable light show, constant for 90 minutes with lots of ground shaking thunder. Watched the weather channel tracking the storm and although it was moving at 45 mph it was massive, covering from NH border to NB border. National weather service stated slow rotation in the storm as it moved southeast.
Last night, all of a sudden one formed around our big mountain and blasted its way through and the light show continued for over 2 hours after it went through here. BUT Today!! Serene weather, bright clear blue skies, 64 wonderful degrees and humidity is zip, zilch, zero.!! I am glad this is over but normally this would be my second week of vacation and it would have been glorious to laze around in it.

If all you can't enjoy your heat just close your eyes and think back to February when you were up to your cheeks(butt that is) in snow drifts and see where you would prefer to be. And 20 would be a heat wave down here right now, rain drizzle and 13 for the last couple of days , poured all day wednesday during the regatta , and all day today during the folk festival come and enjoy our healing waters , t-shirts are a requirement

Brian you're absolutely right... I said that to many this past week... think of January. But, I must admit, while it may be butt freezing weather in January and February, at least we can breathe.
