The order should be filled to a $74 value. I hope this does not need to be cleared up by too many others.
We recently sent an order to a TF member in Harrisonville MO. and we received a complaint on the order. We contacted the shop regarding the complaint and asked what exacltly had been sent to the funeral. The order was for $150 and what they described was worth $75 tops. We had to refund half the money back to our customer and we wanted them to do a price change on the order since it was not filled to value. They refused and we filed a complaint, they refused to comply but eventually gave in and did the price change. What was so infuriating about the whole deal was some the the things the other florist told us regarding wire ins. She said that her TF rep had told her she should double her prices for wire ins when she apparently complained about the fees. Now wether that is really what someone at TF told her or not I have no idea, but obviously this is a florist without a clue of the worst kind.

someone set me straight here. you receive a wire in for total 81.00 , ok your delivery charge is $7.00 ok so now you have $74.00 to work with , what do you fill that order for please and thank you Joanne :boggles:
Depends on where the order comes from. If it's another Canadian shop, all the taxes are taken care of. All you have to do is the $74 + $7 split.

I remember we hired a designer a few years back who used to work for an infamous competitor. One of her first questions was: "How much do you reduce the price for your inwires?"

As if it was the most normal thing in the world :pblush:

it was a teleflora order that was sent to another canadian shop. i received the complaint. The order was for a arr suitable for a grand opening total $81.00
It turned out to be a 10' green vase with 1 calla, 1lg green leaf,1 peacock feather,2 kangaroo paws. When i called i was told by the person i spoke to that their delviery charge was $7.00 ok same as mine that leaves $74.00 , well then they take out their 20% for labour leaving 55.20 and did i know that was czec crystal vase, no i didn't and neither did the recipient, as she describe it as a ordinary run of the mill green vase. So they are to get back to me today, but i have never heard of any shop taking their labour out of the top to justify price. And it was dead 2 days later as the sender saw it . Joanne

74 bucks....

And like the Infinite One suggested, there are ALOT of shops that "CLIP" the INbound biz, and many for more than the 27%...

Dam* time that QA thing was TRUELY applied !!!!!

All incoming orders gets FULL PRICE HERE. I will figure the labor on a arr. but the rest goes for flowers. There is always people out there who hope they never get caught. If they do and it is not a legit reason, they go into my Do not use florist list anymore.
It's more people like that that makes our job harder and make us loose customers.

I'm a little confused by this - when you say well then they take out their 20% for labour leaving 55.20 do you mean that you don't take labour off of arrangements?

Audra - just a clerk.

"well then they take out their 20% for labour"

Unless you mark your cut flowers to reflect the labor, Most florist do take off a labor charge. I find it ranges between 20-25%. sop around here.

Same here, which is why I'm confused by her comment.

I've had a couple of customers that had me custimize flowerSoft to change the way incoming orders show on the work ticket, so that their designers will see the actual amount of money they have to work with.

We to take labor off also.

So we would do:
$71 - $7 delivery = $74
$74 - $15 labor = $59

So the $59 would be used for flowers, foliage, container, supplies, at retail price.

For example:
$59 - $8 container = $51
$51 - $3 supplies (tape, card, pic, etc) = $48
$48 - $5 greens = $43
$43 retail left for flowers and any other accents or extras.

We took this description and broke it down like we would here... if we didn't include a container, there was $20 left. It'd have to be one mighty spiffy vase...

Same as above....

In MY store, we use Advantage Designer Costing, the designer sees the money they have to weork with, thus I take the 25% labor off before the designer starts deducting stems... I also (on every order) take 1.5% to cover tape, card pic, and such.

All the rest is put into the arr, with deductions for container, Oasis (if used) greens, etc...

There are some florists tho, that take the 20% and THEN start as we here do...SHAME on THEM !

We take delivery off then the 20% labor leaving vase, extras, then flowers to be deducted. When sending to Canada which we do often, we make sure we go over minimums to cover delivery even though we always state US dollars to make sure (although I believe they should be converted by the wire services in transmission?)

They're not, we do the conversion at the shop level. It's my daily basic math ritual - at least the exchange rates are the same for the Big 2 now.

I can't resist ...

That's why you need a friendly math-wonderful Daisy on your side!

This should be filled for $74 at full retail value, with no "clipping" of the dollar amount.

BOSS, as far as I know, FTD is using the QA dollars to "secret shop" florists across the continent, especially those with complaints.
