Just another suggesiton... when pricing a piece that I've never done before I check my JH Sympathy book and Wedding Book. There are many recipes that you can get a good start on. I always refer to them when figuring how many carns to cover a sphere etc... I know that there is an arbor type structure in it. Sorry I don't have it right in front of me. Hope that helps.

...Is all this getting you to where you need to be on your pricing & quotation?
Yes, definitely. Your 'mechanics' tips have been a tremendous help. The arbor does not seem as overwhelming. I can figure out my flower count from here. I appreciate all the time you have put in to my question. This Community is a tremendous resource because of members like you, Ivy, Cathy and everyone else that helps give us green designers a push in the right direction...

pre-made garlands on what you need from Koehler and Dramm

How about just "tuling" the back poles and across the top to them? If there's' a budget issue.

Also, we purchase our "pre-made" garlands from Koehler and Dramm in Minneaoplis, MN and have them ship them over to us. They make them any fullness you need. Dan is our rep there... 1-877-563-4537 ext. 140. His e-mail is [email protected] if you want to check and see if they can make what you need. He's been VERY helpful in my questions of "this is what I'm making...I need... and do you have any suggestions?"

Good Luck on this one! I enjoy doing the "usual" up here!

First your drawing is incredible. I wish I had your talent.

Have you considered using the oasis garland form? (Basically cylinder shaped lengths of oasis wrapped in sturdy nylon net all linked together.) This forms allows you cut them into individual pieces, use several links or use the garland in its entirety. IMO, if you cut the form apart, you may be able to stretch your flowers to cover the space more efficiently, create most of the work in your shop, insure the flowers will stay hydrated and still use them elsewhere in the wedding. I, too, suggest moving flowers to other locations. Afterall, I worked really hard and want people to have the opportunity to see the quality of my work up close.

We usually loosely wrap the back poles with garland, swoosh some ribbon in the wedding colors (by using more than one color - I think it adds a luxurious feeling.) and then add tucks of greens and flowers. If the back poles are too dark - they disappear in the pictures. I focus on the front poles.

Good luck.

Thank you Leah. I am going to look into the oasis garland - it has always intrigued me. And thank you for the compliment on my sketch. Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to make a sketch look good than the actual product but I'm confident with all the good advice I have received, my arbor will shine!

I had an opportunity to play with them alittle bit earlier this month at a floral convention in CT. They held up really well, were lighter weight after soaking than a spray bar or other similiar base (plus, they blend into the garland very, very easily.) and are more flexible in positioning.

Let us know how everything works out for you.
Leah
