I have the funeral containers, the duck, the insider, the wagon, the smile face, the bday celebration, the presents.....I spray 4" cubes with design master paint to match the ones in the book....

Interesting....

I get 4" cubes in 4 colors for $2.20 from a local supplier....

Another interesting poll would be, how many branded containers do you sell out of your cooler or to local customers vs. INcoming orders...

IMO - Teleflora has for decades been the "container leader" with their offerings, but I wonder if they are even necessary these days. Again, IMO - they are not worth the money when you add in shipping and the 38% (or whatever it really is today) discount on INcoming orders....

Well as soon as I got the ducks two went out the door for locals and 4 got sold to 100% paying customer via website....

the insider none so far, but I just got them and only have one displayed kind of poorly...

The presents have been orders off the web...

and the funeral containers are over half gone for local orders, the wagon I get sporadic web orders for...

The cubes not enough to buy 12 of each color or spend extra money on them for shipping...

I do sell less now that I do not take hdqtrs orders or og orders...but they do sell, holiday items, for thanksgiving, valentines and easter and lesser holidays don't sell too good.

I ordered that harvest bowl thing for thanksgiving- but only 12 of them. The kincade for christmas and I ordered 5 different Containers from Container Source. Oh and we always have cubes. And I never use ugly utility glass.
I would have ordered the Container Source containers with out them being in The TF book though. I haven't even looked at the TF book yet. Been too busy getting ready for the Hoilday Open house.

I have the mahogany finish sympathy container, the baby wagon (but just a few left and will NOT be buying more), I have cubes but most are purchased elsewhere, the insider (big mistake), the smiley face mug (but from our wholesaler at a MUCH lower price)

The only holiday containers we ever buy is the Christmas Kinkade and only because our town loves them.

We haven't received our box yet. We didn't code for any of the 4th quarter holidays. I still have lots of '09 Kincades. It left a bad taste so that was my reasoning for not ordering.
I really think the holiday specific containers are to expensive when shipping is added on. I do take all pf their surveys and explain it to the sales rep when she calls but for some reason no one listens to me.

I only purchased the Kincades for Christmas... I always sell out. Last year I sold most of my left over Christmas when I advertised a small discount.
I get my some cubes from TF, but will get the locally as it is more cost effective.
I like their bamboo ones, but would not sell enough to make worth my while. Most customers want flowers here not containers.

If anyone want to share their Kincaid, anyone out their wanting to share?.......................

I got 24 kinkades and unless I take headquarters orders for them I don't think they will sell out....

If you wnat to ship me six.......................(2 customers like them) I will give you CC or mail you a check. Thanks

WEll.... where to start, we have most of the cube colors, 3 of the sympathy ones, all of the bamboo which we sell out of the cooler on local orders, all of the holiday ones, 3 of the Birthday celebration package thingies, the Be Happy, some leftovers from past holidays, not too bad tho. We have a few of the everyday plastics like the throwaways from local sources. We don't order any Easter, Grandparents Day, Father's Day, or baby containers, I get the ducks from a local guy, but seldom use those as our customers don't often request novelty. I haven't really checked the book yet, to see where we're at, so I'm guessing. Their everyday vases are more expensive and we have a few left we use once in awhile. We're definitely running out of room to carry all of that, I don't think TF understands most florists don't have a warehouse to store that and many times don't understand we don't have all the flowers either, my cooler would be the size of my wholesalers and we'd be out of business.

A question I have have is, even if we carried all that product, can they guarantee us enough orders, without stealing ours, to make it worth our while?

We have 3 of the satin, 1 group of the presents and never buy holiday specific containers unless they can be used for everyday. However, we haven't done that since last year. I just can't justify adding $10+ in non-flower cost to an arrangement.

The rest I try and find elsewhere for a reasonable cost (cube, smiley mug). Our shop space is too small to stock all that crap especially when it can take more than a year to sell through those huge case quantities. That's just money sitting on the shelves that we could use for shop improvements or marketing expenses.

I LOVE the Teleflora containers even though I'm not a member. I can usually buy plenty of them at decent prices from Florists going out of business. The one I can never find is the little Weber Grill. 4 florists out of business around here in the last year and only 1 cute little red grill :(

You will be happy to know that they are bringing back the Weber Grill for Father's Day 2011.

Another one that we sold well "and had fun with", was the small Hot Rod Pedal Car container.

I don't remember a Webber Grill, must have been during a time I was not in floral, sounds cute.

I remember the little Weber Grill........It was indeed a hot seller. So, much so, that we ordered an extra case just after Fathers day that year and we sold them for football tailgating season.....sold out.

Now, none of the containers ever featured by 800TFTD have ever outsold the ones we had ordered from germany one year early on in my floral infancy. These were authentic pewter lidded beer steins that we sold with flowers in the stein and 3 german brand beers. We had to re-order three times.........direct from germany.....and IIRC, the import costs alone were a huge dent in potential profits.

You were able to sell beer in a flower shop?
