Rhonda at work;
no furnace on, working on getting the pellet stove in the living room and it's dang chilly in my house....but keeping the hopes alive, walls are painted, 3/4 of rug pulled up in living room, 4X4 area of hardwood floor is stripped and waiting for polyurethane, then stone can be set for stove and hook it up !! Hopefully this week??

Rhonda, how does the pellet stove work for you? I've been considering buying a wood stove. Think it would be cozy and appealing (we are in an 80 yr. old building) and save on heat bills!!

It's the middle of Spring here - and it's lovely! Nice warm days but still enough rain to keep the gardens going (we have watering restrictions due to a drought). I'm not looking forward to Summer though - too darn hot for me - we'll have quite a few days with temps hitting 40 c (not sure but I think this is about 100 farenheit). Just got air-conditioning installed last month, so I am looking forward to that as my house is usually v hot.

So, yeah, no white Christmas this year ;)

Yeah Shannon. We toughies here in SC get these things called waterbugs. They really are huge, overgrown roaches that can fly......they get anywhere between an inch to two two inches long.....we also call'em 'big suckers' - They get caught in your hair, leave big sticky places on your walls, harmless, but annoying.

If you want, I think we here in SC can afford to share the wealth and put some 'BIG SUCKERS' in the mail for ya.

I moved in June, into a highrise building. I moved from an apartment in an old house where heat was at a premium.

The other day when I came home I couldn't figure out what that warm fuzzy feeling was... imagine my delight when I discovered it was heat! I'm a happy camper... although it is still rather nice out. I love this time of year.

Oh, yeah, and the closer you get to Charleston, the bigger those bugs are! Ricky, you didn't tell her about the gnats and mosquitoes.

BTW, the northwestern corner of SC, where I live, is about 24 inches behind in rainfall. The docks on the lakes are sitting on dry land with grass growing around them! There have appeared islands in the river near my house where there has never been any land visible during my memory. We cannot water flowers or lawns, cannot wash our cars, etc., etc.

Well Connie, It's lak dis, I figgered I'd take thangs easy on de ole gurl and leave dem dere gnats and skeeters fer an other day. LOL

OMG!!

Ya know I want to live somewhere warm and sunny preferably with a beach....

Then I think about the bugs...gross..

Not only do we get really BIG ROACHES but we have FIRE ants too! They bite the crap out of ya and make a big mess in your lawn and garden. They're TONS of fun!

Yeeeeeah, That's right, I don't think they deal with fire ants in that part of the country. Shannon wants warm weather and the beaches.....But you got some stuff to deal with.

Shannon, come to San Diego!!! The most I ever see are flies galore...or those little tiny gnats. We've got you sun, fun and beaches! minimum on the bugs...don't go to Hawaii!...Aye, talk about scary....roaches the size of little mice! Geckos in your house, frogs leaping from trees, toads/frogs whatever leaping out from under sidewalks...UGH!! Plus centipedes....very scary!!

Shannon, stay 'snug as a bug in a rug' this winter.

I for one am so glad it is spring, kiwi winters suck, they don't seem to have invented insulation here yet?!? (and 40 million sheep) Our electric bill was nearly $400 for one month, bring on summer!

Well, actually in the northwestern corner of SC, where I live, we are at the foot of the mountains, and we don't really have big bugs. The fire ants, however are steadily coming north, and the only reason we do not have more than we do right now is because we are in a huge drought. Fire ants come out after a rain, or so I've been told.

It's rainy this week.

I love fall. We have a great fall here, I should post some pics. I don't even mind winter except for driving on ice. I like sweaters, and being cozy in the house and even bundling up and going outside for walks when it's cold.

Today, for lack of a better expression, sucks. I usually walk two clients (dogs) on Wednesday as it's my day off. We go to the park and pal around. Today, we cancelled due to cold drizzle. :(

I had an infrared heater fitted in the workroom at work today ! Apparently it warms you and not anything around you, hence , keeping my flowers cool ! The electrician assured me that i could put a thermometer against it, whilst on, and i wont register anything? But it works by picking up on body heat and warming it ? we'll see ??

We are heading for a picture perfect Thanksgiving weekend with the sun and warmth starting today. We'll be barbequing the turkey and having dinner on the deck. :) I love that!

By the way, Happy Columbus day (Monday) to all the U.S. folks.
