Well, raised on a rural farm here. Always had guns behind the kitchen door to fend off varmits and Dad had an extensive collection. The rule was we were NEVER to touch without permission and we were taught to shoot and hunt at a very early age. Got my 1st gun at age 6 for (just what every 6 year old girl wants) Christmas gift. If we disobeyed we were promised a kick in the a@@, and Dad provided that too, LOL. Only takes one kick to learn the rule! No namby pamby discipline there. While my kids were VERY little I had no guns in the house, but since being though a major hurricane disaster and having wild looters running though the neighborhood, while we had no doors or windows, I now keep a handgun and a serious dog. My kids are grown, but still don't know where it's kept, unloaded in my home waiting for MY use only. I will defend myself and my family if necessary. Just a different view, as Bloomz says, opinions vary!
