Since I haven't been around any deaf people on a regular basis for a few years I have noticed my ability to understand deaf people when they are signing has slowed way down. Plus once you get to know a deaf person you learn their particular way of signing, even though generally the same, it's like they all have their own slang only it's in signing instead of speaking.

When deaf people come in the shop many times I don't know what they are saying without great effort and concentration. It would actually be faster to just have them write. It's a lot harder understanding signers than it is to sign. I'm okay at signing, but to watch deaf people sign to each other is absolutely amazing to me.

I mentioned a deaf girl that I hired. Her husband was also deaf, but her two daughters were hearing. They would come to the shop occasionally on the days that her husband picked her up. Watching her hearing seven year old sign fluently to her was just
fascinating. Her two year old was not fluent yet of course, but you could see how natural it was for her even though she could hear. It was also quite cute to say the least.

Sign language has always fascinated me, hard for me to stay out of this conversation.

:nonono: This is sing language everyone understands.

Patty :scooter: Varoom...varoom............
