I need a new way to VENT!

There are a few staff members here that just have no common sense. The one (that's driving me insane today) is an older lady, super nice, great with customers, but constantly asks questions that she should know, or she does know AND asks anyway.

I got a new line of bracelets in yesterday and I stayed late putting in them in our computer, so they can scan the UPC OR enter the item # as a (alias) product code. I left them on the store wrapping counter in baskets of each prices so the store person could price this morning. I left string tags right next to them, b/c sticker tags would cover either the brand/logo of the bracelet OR the UPC code.

She didn't like how the string tags looked, which is fine... but wouldn't you then put the sticker tag on the LOGO side, so they could SCAN the bracelet!! DUH!!! Now half of the 70 some bracelets are sticker priced OVER the item # and UPC CODE!!

The other DUH today was a designer who had an order for today not filled b/c it called for a pothos on a pole. We did not have the plant so I ordered from the wholesaler. She has worked here for TWENTY YEARS. She know our foliage plants our 3 x's mark up. The wholesaler was out of the 8" size, so I had to get a 6" for $20 cost and I also ordered three 6" trailing that they could plant around at the base in a larger pot. I assumed (yes I know, I should never assume) they'd realize the a $20 cost plant even in a nicer ceramic container is not $110 RETAIL!!

I'm just wating for the call now. This doesn't look $110!

What I want is one of those inflatable punching things with the weighted base that were around when I was a kid, usually a character of some sort. And I can beat the @@@@ out of that instead of banging my head on my desk. Do they still make those?

We all have employees like this. I find it is more of a social interaction thing instead of a production thing. They might be a little lonely and just need that extra conversation from you they do not get elsewhere.

Well this is the place to vent! Sorry you are having a day.
I can only yell at myself if something goes wrong at this point, heh.

I am so with you, this is the first day back in a week for me, with this darn flu, and still feelling like crapola, the darn store looks like a darn cyclone hit it, the hard wood floors are a darn mess, the tile, marble look as though they had a mud fight in here,,,I am so mad right now, and have been crying like crazy not just because of all of this, but darn it, these twits can go back to the other shops that I had them at ,,,which is what I did after this crapola, I will trade ya mine for yours,,,LOL<..PS, what type of bracelets did ya get> the Queen loves those items, But I sure could use that pothos on a pole, and it is for not looking at...Hugs to ya dear.....

The bracelets are called Viva Beads... really cute. Got many types of bracelets, bangle cuffs and watches. Already thinking of getting more -they are really cute! I'd like to get the earrings and key chains. Sold 6 since yesterday afternoon... to three employees - lol.

Heather, I feel ya!!!! Vent away, we can all relate!

My most recent hire (who is adaquate at best) was frustrated last week because I corrected her on very basic stuff that she should have known. Anyway, she went into the cooler, closed the door and cussed me out at the top of her lungs. She didn't realize that half the cooler has glass doors and sound travels through them. I was laughing so hard, but was standing with my arms folded when she walked out of the cooler. I offered for her to leave if she was this unhappy. I also advised her not to do her AES until she learns the most basics of basics. :rofl:

I can relate how sometimes it stinks to be the one who knows it all :rofl:.

Then I'm reminded of my stupid mistakes when I look at the checking account balance :corky

Wii boxing. Haven't had a moment like that since we bought it. Sometimes hubby & I box each other - another great stress release! Yes, you're only punching air, but my hands thank me for not causing more pain.

hope it gets better!

Oh Tracy, I really like that!! The kids have Wii Boxing, but hubby and I have never tried it. I love this idea! lol

Yes, Heather, they still make those...run to your nearest toys r us and grab one. I got one for the boys so they can punch the heck out of it instead of each other.... ENJOY!! cheer up!

Oh yah! There's not much more satisfying than knocking out your hubby. Well maybe that's an overstatement, but it is loads of fun!

I have the same thing here. Accept it, it will not change.

Thing is, that I find, they are wanting my approval for the way they are going about even mundane tasks. They want affirmation that their decisions are in line with the way I want them to do things, even if I have not changed the game plan on 5 years for the particular task.

Also, part of it is they want me to interact with them. Too often I get involved in "my" tasks and ignore whats happening in the design room, and they want to be sure I'm paying attention and know they are doing their jobs.

As to the exact "issues" you raised Heather...never ass-u-me anything :rofl:

I have to say I agree with avenuegardens. With reguard to the employee who keeps asking questions. Sometimes if you can stand in their shoes you will feel better. Sometimes you just need to give them cement shoes.

Queen - So sorry your so sad, sending hugs and hugs and hugs! Your posts always pick me up! :)
