Just completed a complicated (for me) faux handtied bridal bouquet. I wanted the hydrangea to have water until the ceremony so I weaved them in and kept the stems on them and layed them down the outside of the faux stems. In the center of this is the grande bouquet holder in which the rose stems are in.

If you were the bride, would you be happy with it? For some reason I am nervous about this one.

Okay - I am confused about the "faux" handtied... Is it in a bouquet holder or no?

Do you want us to tell you what we would have done differently?

I am not the bride - and I am sure she will be happy with it... Give me a bit more info on how it is put together... and I will "opinionate" from that..

It is in an oasis bouquet holder that is placed down inside stems. The whole top design with the exception of the hydrangea is in oasis. Then the stems are tied and glued to the handle. I did it this way because the bride wanted a bit more rounder of a shape than a regular hand tied offers. The whole bouquet is shown here in a vase with a decorative decal on the front. This is the way I am delivering it to her. Does that help explain?

Okay... that last part sounds all wrong... The part after I am not the bride... I meant to add, but if I were... I am sure she will be... Yea.. \
Yea.. Just don't want anyon to think I am a REALLY big A$$.

I have done this technique before but what is throwing me off is the size. I know you can't tell from the pic but it is about soccer ball size and heavy. This is what the bride asked for. I guess I am asking if anyone has done these and been successful with the technique, design, and weight?

I think the bouquet is pretty, I wouldn't stress :)

Also- have you tired the new Gala Bouquet Holders that J designed? They are awesome and allow more ports to insert flowers in!

I haven't used those before but I will order them next time. You are not the first that has said they work great for this technique.

Okay.. I'm a little slow on the uptake today.. I got it.

I think your design is lovely - Perhaps the problem with you being nervous... maybe.. ?
#1 There are a lot of flowers in that thing. how are the flowers secured?
#2 the hydrangea are not yet secure and so maybe you see it as not having a finished look yet... ?

What is the wrap out of? Anyway you could go ahead and put the hydrangea in and just fill the vase complete with water and then dry the wrap?

With all that have design with this technique.. I have found that as long as everything is secure.. your good..

Call me crazy.. (or whatever) but I use toothpicks..

I have made plenty of bouquets that were HUGE and were in bouquet holders. No problem with them - if that is what the bride wants - OK! You might try the "Rene" method of using a "pipe cleaner" along side your stem and wrapping it on with stem tape and then inserting it into your foam. Holds like magic - the pipe cleaner swells up when it gets wet. I rarely have to use stem lock and my hydrangeas hold up great!

Gorgeous bouquet, Well made, attractive, - I don't see a thing wrong with it.

Hand-tieds, faux hand-tieds are going to be relatively heavy bouquets......All the stems plus the blooms will add weight. Don't sweat it.

I do not think they would work so great for that technique.

Your bouquet looks fine, It's not perfectly rounded but I still think it looks nice.
Stop sweating it. Unless she wanted it "perfectly rounded" I cannot see why she would complain. I wouldn't complain if I were the bride.. And I'm pretty picky, as you well know.
I really think you're over worrying. :)

I think its lovely too. and if i were the bride i would love it.

I would have done it handtied though for ease and then wired the outside flowers to create the ball that she wanted just for security, you can actually tie them like that and they should be safe. I also break up hydrangea into tiny little pieces and wire then in a bouquet. In fact i am doing one of these today and i too get nervouse whenever i use hydrange..

I will post later if you like, but mine doesnt want it as round.

Well done !!
