So it's true to say that if a link isn't passing PR, it's not passing any link love? I've assumed that's true, but haven't heard anything concrete......

NO, it's not always true...

Ya'll are going to confuse these florists...

Simple definition for link love....
Link love is posting a link to websites or blogs, usually unsolicited, that you enjoy.

It started off as simple posts to websites or blogs and e-marketers took advantage of posting links everywhere. That's when Google said it's ok to use the nofollow tag for the url. Not all blogs and websites use the nofollow tags

.

Perhaps we should have said "link juice" instead of "love?"

We probably should have. Once again, another single FC thread going in two completely different directions at the same time.

One of TF's magazines has a brief article about online directories, and I was one of 6 or so florists who gave brief opinions. Pretty much all negative.

Found several interesting articles on the subject. The first one explains the issue inlayman's terms, and is a good read for everyone:

While there's no shortage of coverage on this issue, many small business owners are finding themselves a bit bewildered by the whole paid links debate. This series is designed to help them understand the issues at play so they can make their own decisions about how to move forward in regards to buying, selling and nofollowing links.
