Technically, they're financially a good idea - coins don't wear out like paper notes do.

As a side note, as someone who saves all my change, I've found those coins **** handy. They paid for parts of my wedding and for my trip to the gift show. By separating my change out at the end of the day, I was able to save up about $1800 within a year.
