They just sent me an order for the ftd stunning beauty, $15 box of chocolate and delivery...grand total of $71

i sell it at $65 plus delivery and chocolate.....65+15+11.95 little bit more than $71

JF's has it on sale.......but instead of eating the savings and giving the florist the correct amount, they stiff us...

Do i just fill it to value and shut up

request a price change? they will cancel for sure

send them an ask and say it will be filled to value- they will cancel for sure

anyone???

some of their stuff is worth doing...this isnt one of them...would absolutely love to tell them to shove it you know where....but..........im not losing anything by not doing this one order...some of there orders are ok...like a dozen roses and 5 dendros for $95.00

Well, when it comes to Just Flowers, I pick up the phone, call them and tell them exactly how much I need to fill as requested. I let them cancel the order if need be. Now sometimes they actually come up with the money, if it's no more than $10, they can squeek it out..if it's more they'll call their customer and usually send a can. Hope that helps!

Reject with the comment saying you are not obligated to eat their discount. We've done it with some other OGs advertising online discounts or "free" deliveries, and more often than not, they will re-send the same order with the regular price. Not sure about JF, because we are't in their list.

I always try to make it work....but with this order....i just dont see it happening....customer will expect as pictured....i cant eat the 30% and the delivery and the discount.. man, if i was remotely close to cali, id start choking some people

One much more than one occasion, I have wished for a portal on my puter. Just reach right through and CHOKE THEM INTO REALITY. But thats just me...I'm aggressive, lol.

Had one from them yesterday told them I needed $15 for delivery as it was almost 20 miles and didn't have the pitcher for make lemons so guess what they canceled I was so hurt LOL.

I don't get why any of you are reluctant to reject an order than is a direct pillage of your good and services.
We let the main players in the wire services rule and control our businesses.
Move past it. You can.
It's hard, but better than being under control by these villians.

Not all. I respect other florists transferring orders, as I do via Teleflora.
But not those that try to make a living off of us.
It use to work, but, now it doesn't.

We need to unify and refuse their orders.
I do ALL the time, no exceptions.
Not even for a mondo dollar order of perishable I need to be rid of...........

That's principle just for principle's sake and an emotional non business response. Our consultant scolds me when I make those.

We gererally forward their orders but make occasional exceptions, especially in that last case.....last one I took was 3 dozen pink roses (which I had in the cooler) for $270.

It's not like refusing and eating that perishable product with salt and pepper is going to make them go away, or hurt them in the slightest. Case above - it would only hurt me and I was glad to get $197 for them.

Can someone here logically tell me what I would have gained by not selling those roses?

but...opinions vary...

The company that sells them need to go bye-bye

Like 800 from nasdaq-not quite

Like greatly decreasing the orders that are transferred with discounts upon fees hitting the filling florist. All the work and too little compensation.

Jon, It's great that you got an order for so much for the roses.
But, think about it how much did that comsumer pay for 3 dz roses? $300??
Probably. That's not right, even for the most beautiful roses.
I know, I'm nuts.

And, what about all the times you get ripped. Does it even out?
I know that you and others say that it's easy just to reject the order, or worse, forward it. Personally, I would not forward an order I wouldn't take to a competitor, not nice.
Not to mention the fact that it takes time, paper, and too much of my patience to have to go through the steps for someone else. Plus, if it's really insulting, I'm po'd for at least a couple of hours.

Not worth any of it. I'm not a game player in my personal life and I'm not a game player in my business practices.

I am so less stressed feeling in somewhat control of my relationship with the WS. The day I quit FTD, I became a happier person.
Plus, I'm learning a new way to operate my business. I'm focusing my energy (positive) towards the horizons.
I'm loving it.
Hugs

I actually wrote an email to FTD and informed them that as of January 1, 2009, I would be billing them a $20 stupidity / wasting my time fee for every order sent to me by an employee off FTD that fails to read my codifications. They have now wasted my time or an employees time, causing me to loose money for their stupidity. I am fined for not responding back to them within 2 hours if I have an issue with an order. So right back at you FTD! Thats a double edge sword.

I have yet to see my "fines paid" BUT I have seen more in return such as free membership for a month, free web hosting charges, free town listings, and more.

I would have NO problem getting out of FTD tomorrow, but the way things are going I may actually see a profit from them.

Sorry for rambling on, but the Just Flowers thing get me everytime. If JF wants to offer a discount or Sale, then it should come out of their pocket not mine. I offer discounts and Sales of my own. Should I start a No Fees Month for May? We get 100% of the order and JF just goes along with it? They expect that of us....why not.
Why not change the name too................instead of Just Flowers how about Just Stupid Flowers?

They won't - they're still expanding...

Gotta tell that to the florists who want those orders - but they won't listen (I've tried)

Dunno - I do know many of their orders are clipped, and I take none of those - this was a special circumstance the one out of the year I took for reasons specified.

Probably. That's not right, even for the most beautiful roses.
I know, I'm nuts.

And, what about all the times you get ripped. Does it even out?

I don't. I'm quite astute at determining if an order has been clipped or not.

I know that you and others say that it's easy just to reject the order, or worse, forward it. Personally, I would not forward an order I wouldn't take to a competitor, not nice.

Why not? It's then their decision if they take it or not, and if there's a risk to reputation, well let them take it.

Not to mention the fact that it takes time, paper, and too much of my patience to have to go through the steps for someone else. Plus, if it's really insulting, I'm po'd for at least a couple of hours.

Ahh I got plenty of time and paper, and I dont' get pissed I get amused.

Not worth any of it. I'm not a game player in my personal life and I'm not a game player in my business practices.

That be kewl but I will play games with someone trying to play games with me - again - it amuses me.

I am so less stressed feeling in somewhat control of my relationship with the WS. The day I quit FTD, I became a happier person.

Well that's the proof of the pudding ain't it?
I can't/don't/won't do that cuz I make good money off them.

Plus, I'm learning a new way to operate my business. I'm focusing my energy (positive) towards the horizons.
I'm loving it.

Nothing.

But that also raises the question as to why do we continue to over price larger products? If its okay to discount a large order then why can't we offer the same thing? \

My staff does this all the time. A funeral order comes in $150 $200 or more and regardless of who is sending it they seem to think its okay to go ahead and fill it. Or they ask if its okay?

Better yet I'll even take a look at and see if its worth it?

Its a hard decision sometimes. Do you enable or do you let someone else fill it? This is why I have said so many times. If you don't want to fill the junk then raise your minimums. You get more quality orders and larger dollar amounts. But it also works both ways and that means you want larger orders you should send larger orders or your just as wrong as them.
