In order to test during San Francisco symposium, You will have to have met the pre-attendance requirement.

If within the last three years ( 2008, 2009, 2010 ) prior to the symposium year you intend to test......you have attended or will attend an AIFD sponsored event - such as a Regional symposium, AIFD Across America, AIFD Education Connection, National symposium, Steps to membership class, or other AIFD sponsored event, then you will have met the pre-attendance requirement.

well...I will have to try to get to one of those other smaller events, I didn't realize there was a time limit on attendance. The last one I went to was in 2005 in Seattle.
ha.. it didn't seem like that long ago until I put it in writing!

I was told three years.....however, it does not specify that on the website. I'll ask when I get there and double check - 2005 may be acceptable.
