Long live rock!

What a fun thread! The Beatles for sure--used to crank the White Album to keep daughter #1 from crying all night (she had milk allergies), both girls still really dig it. Depends on the kid, but daughter #2 loves the White Stripes (actually any Jack White)--we were going to our first "family" concert to see them but their tour has been cancelled. Both girls love Rob Zombie (especially educated horses!). Both love Simon & Garfunkel (#1's name is Cecelia). I've gotten them to recently like Kasey Chambers. They also love classical music and Brian Setzer, but they don't really like his newest Cd of classical--not really sure why. Oh, BTW, they are ages 6 & 9. I hope they still share the same taste in music and like me for a few more years! I am a mean mom, though, I wouldn't pay hundreds of $$'s to see Hannah Montana. THATS where I draw the line! (Maybe for the Stones, but not Hannah!)

KIds and music

I think kid 2 and I came to an agreement.

We are both listening to Aerosmith right now. he is on the other computer and asking what next to play and he loves the music!

Who would have thought a Baby boomer and a Gen x coming together and liking the same music.

but then again, I also love much of the Big Band era, so my dad, Depression Era/WWII gen links with me the baby boomer.

Tomorrow, night I think it will be the Motor City Mad Man for kid 2!

that is a double bonus, because kid 2 wants to get into bowhunting.

what do you and your kids jointly enjoy in music?

I was shocked and pleased this year, my freshman in High School son started asking to listen to some of MY CD's. Everything I listened to in the 80's and 90's is coming back around to these teens of today. He has as big a collection as I do and he isn't the only one. At the last swim meet a few of his team mate were all listening to classic rock between races. There are even a few boys on the team that have mullets. Crazy!!!:spintongu But it is fun.

I forgot to tell you about my 5 year old son. He LOVES Johnny Cash!!!:yourock:

I mean knows every word of 80% of his songs. I don't know how I feel about my 5 year old singing Cocain Blues or about being in prison for shotting his wife. I just hope that by the time he is old enough to understand, he will be into some other kind of music like Journey. :musical:

My one and only is 3 and she loves music. When I was pregnant, I would play the classical music so she would be smart:tongue:(hee-hee), and she was always calm and would never move much. So one day I decided to change it up and I played her some Bob Marley!! She started moving like crazy!! To this day, she listens to "Bobby" at bedtime!! I to hope we share a love for music. I think music is universal. And I know we will come upon our Hannah Montana some day, I just hope I can get through it with a smile!! Good luck!!

Guilty Pleasure admission.

I have been in the basement working by myself. I always put
"Since I've Been Loving You" by Led Zepplin on. That song is amazing, talk about powerful.

All the performances are so restrained except when they work it out a little.

The organ has about 5 or 6 sounds at different times, the best is when it sounds like it is in a Hymn.

It is a Hymn sort of Him singing about his anguish.

Just layer upon layer of sonic deliciousness. I will listen to it over and over again.

bloomz;10508 I like the saying "If my music's too loud - you're too old!" I love that stuff said:
right[/B] in front of the speakers.

so there.

Opinions vary

I STILL have Dave Matthews initial demo CD, cut when he and my son were hangin out together, and at first I though what the??.....but, it grows on you!!
I maintain a high end turntable, for those days when vinyl returns in full force. Heavens, I was just a few days ago through our inventory, and came up on a Paula Abdul 45.........

I'm still saddened by the loss of my LP's and my turntable in our housefire. I'm grateful to have saved my 45's.

Music truly is my first love... almost all genres.

it IS a fun thread...made me wanna go reminisce.....
I've got ONE Beatles white album, well used, and grooved, and ONE still in it's original "high flex" wrap material, NEVER opened!
Have got a "SuperTramp" album Breakfast In America, with it's original "pullout" internal "sleeve"......and a "Moody Blues" "Long Distance Voyages" album, with NO playing time.

God Mike, I played my albums to death... and then the fire ate them. And no, I didn't start the fire. ;) A rotten experience. I had the full collection of Beatles albums, early BeeGee's and so much more. My first album I ever received was from my Dad ( I was just a little kid), Ray Charles... and a love was born. Losing it and the Beatles album I picked up in England (songs that weren't on NA albums) was horribly sad for me.

I've tried replacing some albums on CD but somehow the sound just isn't the same as on a turntable.

I wish I had a turntable still so I could listen to my 45's.
