The Iraqi jet, an advanced Russian MiG-25 Foxbat, was found buried in the sand after an informant tipped off U.S. troops.

How come we did not see this on the news channels?

Sarin biological agent, a jet, what's next?

Awesome photo! It probably did not make the news channels because they are so into showing the negative about what is going on in Iraq. One of our shop employees is in the Army Reserve and is currently on active duty in Iraq. The U.S. Army and the other Coalition partners are fixing schools, fixing hospitals, fixing things left and right but all you hear about on the news are the prison-abuse stories and the insurgents attacking our troops. It is so sad the media is not showing all the good being done there.

George, where did you find this photo?

I got them (there are 4 of them) in an email.

old news, that's why.

".....though this version purports to be an "unclassified excerpt" from an unspecified document, was lifted verbatim from a NewsMax.com article of the same date. After overseas news sources began reporting at the beginning of August 2003 that upwards of 30 Cold War-era Russian MiG-25 Foxbat fighter jets had been found buried in the desert at al-Taqqadum airfield near Baghdad, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld confirmed the discovery on August 5. He cited the exhumed aircraft, which had gone undetected for months by U.S. forces operating in the area, as an example of the difficulty of locating hidden weapons of mass destruction.

Iraq acquired the MiG-25s, along with about 200 other aircraft, from the U.S.S.R. in 1980. The fighters were still in use as recently as early 2003, but, for reasons still unknown, Saddam Hussein decided to conceal his air force instead of deploying it against U.S.-led coalition forces when they invaded Iraq in March 2003. Reportedly, some of the buried aircraft were damaged beyond repair.

Found on urban legends website. 'tis about one year old!

Which is another reason to go completely over what country they can over there with whatever metal seeking devices, X-ray devices, underground detection devices, because Saddam could have buried an entire city in a few days with all that sand.
And yes, the media very rarely acknowledges good news, especially in war zones.

Boy that sure looks dangerous..... :luke

We better send a couple hundred thousand more troops.

Political Opinion

BLOOMZ SIG.
"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government. Edward Abbey"
Couldn't agree more. . . .

"Please support our troops - Impeach their leader so they can come home"
Couldn't agree less. . . .

Bloomz,
I would have really liked to read comments from you during the Clinton years. It's too bad the comments on this board only go back to 2002.
No man is perfect, and especially in american politics where there is so much giving and taking to make any forward progress that any of us could point fingers at certain aspects of any administrations policies and decisions.
I believe even you would have to admit that the world is a better place with Sadam out of the way.

Hey, it's my day off and I am waiting for new motorcycle goodies, so...

In short, I think Clinton was the best President of my lifetime, and so did my Republican Ike man daddy. Give me gas for a buck a gallon and a booming economy anytime, and don't tell me it was all cooked books cuz I don't care where it comes from as long as it is there. My business was thriving and growing, not just surviving.

But Bama, I'm afraid bloomz would rather have Sadaam back in power than 18,000 ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5057703/ ) new al quaeda "troops" hungry for vengeance now, the direct result of removing Sadaam and turning Iraq into a terrorist magnet. So we sort of ran them out of Afghanistan, but where they be now, they didn't resign from terrorism. They got stronger, MORE organized, BETTER equiped to hurt us. We knew they were these kind of people when he CHOSE to attack them. If you're going after this kind of zealots who don't mind dying, it's a good idea to pack a lunch cuz it's gona go on to your children's children's lives, AND something else you should consider is a VALID REASON not based on lies, misinformation, bad intelligence and fabrications. Dropping bombs, attacking a sovereign nation isn't something you get to later say "oops, we were wrong" which nearly everybody now BUT George has said.

Some claim Iraq was harboring terrorists. Saddam was many evil things, but he was not an Islamic extremist. We plan to turn power over to a country that is 60% Shia Muslim. Think about this, we have created another Islamic state. Saddam killed any Muslim cleric that spoke out and was considered an enemy of Islam. We are now seeing an Islamic uprising in Iraq, and while we will crush this, TEMPORARILY, it will happen again and again and again and again. Terrorists trained in Afghanistan not Iraq for a reason, Saddam feared them and therefore would kill anyone who had any connection with them. Now with Saddam gone they are pouring into the country, WE have made Iraq a home for terrorist. "Muslims make up 96 percent of Iraq’s population"( MSNBC)

So in the end we have created another hate filled Islamic state that will be vent on revenge at the cost of our servicemen and women and billions and billions of dollars from OUR economy. Do you feel safer now ?

These zealots WILL not stop and we create more of them with every bullet, bomb or humiliation.

You just can't get them all, they (Muslims) are nearly 1/4 of the world's population. Attacking them was a terrible mistake of the highest caliber, bound to have repercussions for centuries to come.

Let's see, we went there (DECLARED reasons)

to find WMD - that "issue" is done.
Remove Sadaam from power - that "issue" is done.

Wasn't it a year ago that W claimed MISSION ACCOMPLISHED? With flight suit costume and huge PR stunt. I'd say that SHOULD mean, TIME TO GO HOME.

So what are we doing there? Blowing money and lives and accomplishing nothing except making more enemies. I can't imagine ANYONE who could skru this world up worse than W has. Think of the mess the next guy in has to clean up.

It gets worse DAILY.

The world is a MUCH more dangerous place than it was a couple years ago. So the short answer is, no, the world is not a better place without him. I am not glad he is no longer in power, he knew how to control islamic zealots, you don't "win their hearts and minds - you kill them" and he did a very good job of that.

(Now watch someone come along and call me a Sadaam lover - and yes I know who that will be)

Best regards Bama, don't mean for any of this to sound caustic toward a fellow florist friend, just gets a little passionate at times cuz things are SO skrude up now.

Funny thing tho, lest some think I am just a tree hugger, I wanted us to go to Afghanistan and do what was necessary, and THAT was necessary. But he failed at that too, left the job before it was done. He truly is a miserable failure, the worst I have ever seen.

So, I take it you are not voting for him come November. :)
Are you voting this time around???

I'm with Bloomzie on all of this. We should have stayed home and took care of the home front. Now we still have to do all that minus 80B and counting plus 800 lives and THOUSANDS of injuries, many truely severe. I actually yelled at the TV (new did that before, really) when the shrubie said we were going to war: Said "We can't afford this!!". Just think of all the stuff we could do here at home with all the money (not including lives and time wasted). Whose frigging idea was this any way? Now he is going to have to kiss up to the French and Germans anyway! What a dope!

SHeesh.....don't get me started....!!!!!!!

Naw, I most likely won't be voting for George...

And yeah, I'm afraid I will waste my time again, (this will be 3rd time in my life, all of them jokes) just in CASE they haven't figured out a way to fudge this election too.

But I think they are already on that one...something about voting machines being programmed by republicanos.

Here's something "startling" for you.....

WE have a FEDERALIE election coming up in JUNE, and there ain't a bag fulla dung value in ANY of our "leader" candidates at this juncture!!
Over the last few weeks, the CANADIAN VOTER has become SO CYNICAL, with ALL THE LYING and CHEATING going on our governments, that CANADIANS could do well WITHOUT ANY GOVERNMENT for a while...they have PROVEN that they are LIARS and THIEVES, and a few should be in JAIL...YOU or I WOULD BE, for the SAME VULGAR insults AND THEFT!!

Regardless of which man or woman is running the Country....I still have my family and friends who together we all make up what North America is about..Freedom.

Freedom to get Motorcycle parts, Freedom to operate a Business, Freedom to Voice our Thoughts, Freedom to hate each other, Freedom to Love one another, Freedom to just be US....and now in San Franscisco Freedom to...I'll leave that one alone.

Why is there no box or check mark on Ballots that say "None of the Above?"

Just "ONE" box is necessary Blue Mikey....

I like the one about "freedom to love ya" Mikey!!
I certainly agree....HUG A VET!!!!:iwuvyou:

Mikey,
I don't know what you'd expect in Ontario, but here I believe the only chance we have is if we elect a Minority government! Looks like good old John Crosbie may run in our riding of Avalon!

Minority governments traditionally are the best, unfortunately, they're become a myth in the last 20 years. I think we're overdue.

can call "BABY" now, that "big lungs Sheila" is gone??
Mike

John Crosbie - oy vey. :hammer: I'd rather deal with Sheila - at least you know where you stand with Sheila.

Audra

Mikey, It was "Tequila Sheila" John called Sheila; they were both interviewed last night by CTV(?); amusing interview; apparently John is waiting until Friday to announce whether or not he's running since he is The Chancellor at MUN and their convocation is today and tomorrow.
Audra, I don't know Sheila (only what I've seen on TV of course) but John Crosbie is one person who tells you in no uncertain terms where you stand with him; that's what has gotten him in trouble so many times during his political career over the past 40 years. It's our district that he's looking at, running against John Efford who is from Port de Grave (2 towns over);Efford is a customer of ours and I've known him for years but since they've changed the district boundries (I think Sunny and I may be in the same district now,Avalon) it's hard to say what will happen.

Cripes Hugh , what a choice , Crosbie who if memory serves me told Trudeau that he was weened from a pickle or Efford , too bad no slot that says none of the above, cause thats where my vote would go. Don't like anything about Paul Martin, like even less about Steven Harpur , so nowhere for my vote to go.
