Lost my Best Friend

I really hate dogs!

Dear Sue: So sorry for the loss of your beloved dog who became another family member in your life.

The reason I say that, I HATE DOGS, is due to the fact that, these RATS enter our homes as a FREE LOADER, only to wind up becoming another BELOVED MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY, and at the end, they BREAK OUR HEARTS. Not because they want to, but just because, they have to go while leaving us behind to shed our tears.

We too are going through the same end cycle with our Beloved PRESTON, our 16.5 year old American Eskimo Spitz.

I'll post our saga at a later date, but for now, we're running our daily DOGGY HOSPICE with all his meds and hand feeding him when he's having a bad day, and his hind legs can't hold him up. His liver is failing and his heart isn't that good either. In fact, just taking a PEE is more than he can handle, and so, we lovingly hold him up by the tip of his tail while he does his DOO! We just know that, he appreciates our help under his dire and embarrassing circumstances. Preston is now TOTALLY DEAF and almost totally blind, but he can still see shadows. The only thing still working REALLY GREAT is his nose, and he can smell his food cooking as Linda heats up some of his chicken, hamburger meat, or London Broil. At that point, he barks like a hungry dog, and so, we know he's still amongst the living.

Here's a link to a website which may give you some solace at a very difficult time. Sometimes it helps us to share our pain with others and write about the very best memories our dogs have left us with.

This gentlemen, Mark Levin, was so devasted by the loss of HIS BELOVED DOG SPRITE, that he almost threw in the towel regarding his own radio talk show, and due to his personal state of depression.

Then, he decided to write a book about his story and his beloved Sprite, and the best part is that, his own website now allows others to write their own very best memories of their great dogs too!

RESCUING SPRITE

Keep the faith and hold onto the GREAT memories! If only they lived longer than us, but then again, we would break their hearts too, and I don't think they are able to handle that as well as we can. Their UNCONDITIONAL LOVE can only be stretched so far, and then, THEY WOULD BREAK and FALL even harder than we do.

Gotta go! Preston just barely walked into the kitchen and all four of his legs gave out from under him, and he's spread eagle on the floor.

Time to pick him up and carry him out to the deck for a PEE and carry him back to the carpet where he can walk better.

Please tell me that, if TOTO gets like this, someone will be kind enough to put me down comfortably. Just to be sure though, give me one last shot of VIAGRA or CEALICE, and IF NOTHING POPS UP, you can PUT ME DOWN!

Hi Sue --

Sorry to hear about Butch. He looks like a huge baby!!

It sounds like you made the right choice and did what was best for him. It will be a sad time around your shop for a while, but I'll bet you spoiled him rotten (in a good way) throughout his life!

prayers for pets

so sorry for your loss. its unfair that the animal aging process does not match humans. there is a great site called prayersforpets.org that i have found that provides some comfort when we lose one of our best friends.

So sorry for your loss. The love of a pet is the most wonderful thing, always accepting of us with all our faults and only expecting love from us in return.

Sue,

My heart goes out to you and your family, we went through the same thing twice in the past three years,, it is so tough, we now have two new corgi boys who are our new loves and treasured companions..

I lost two beloved dogs within this last year, one by accident and the other by advancing age. I understand how they can touch your heart. I had such a difficult time for a long time and still struggle. It is has been just as hard as losing a human family member. Pet lovers understand this. Your dog was blessed to have you as his pet parent.

It's a wonderful thing, the way our pets touch us. Even more amazing is the way they touch others ... the idea of your customers mourning with you, I hope that is a comfort. It's a testament to the love that you helped bring out in him, that your customers were so attached to him.

Can't imagine him not being there. You'll be in my prayers today.

So sorry to hear your heart wrenching news, we lost our dog in January. I still get upset but it does get easier than those first few weeks. Will be thinking of you at this upsetting time x

May you know in your heart that you made the right decision for your gentle companion. Treasured memories you've shared with your beloved pet will bring you comfort during your time of loss. With heartfelt sympathy & love.

aww -what a beautiful dog - I'm so sorry for you all. We have a dog, Archie, who goes everywhere we go too. He brings so much joy to everyone who meets him. It sounds like Butch was one of those exceptional dogs who brought out the best in everyone. You loved him and loved you right back. take care.

They leave such a hole in your heart when they are gone. No other one will take their place and because of that a little piece of them stays in your heart forever. I have had dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, etc. all my married life and I remember each one of them. In fact, that is why my "handle" is pandalou. Panda Lou was a long haired Sharpei (she had brown spots so she looked like a miniature St. Bernard)that we had in the 80's. She was so sweet and perfect, we all called her Panda perfect!
You gave your friend a wonderful life.
Take care,
Sharon
