My Beloved Bubba

This thread just shows how much we all have in common. Carolyn and Linda, vitual hugs from over here - i know exactly how you feel..

We lost molly jan 2008. My heart broke and i had no idea until then just how hard it is to lose a pet or member of the family. It took me a long time to get over her and every time i looked at my living room i expected her to nudge in and come and jump on me.

Could not get over her and then my husband persuaded me to get two basset hounds Dennis and Ozzie... they are a dream but could not have got them a minute before as the pain was too raw.. I still think of Molly now, she was my replacement baby but the two nutters help me think fondly of her.

Toto, i cant tell you how much i smiled when i seen your pics, you truly are an patriot!!:)

Hi you guys,

Had a hard day, still, it was made sooooo much easier for the tremendous response. The losses shared here are so helpful, it is sort of like grief counseling.

I'm still working on telling people about this. Bubba was very well known in our community, police come to visit them. Talked to the chief today, Bubba left some wonderful paw-prints in the freshly fallen snow last night on his last journery, so we are trying to get a cast from one of them. My wholesale salesman broke down and cried today when I had to tell him, especially when he realized he would need to tell his wife.

ah...sorry, sobbing again.

Anyway,
Thank you so much, I very much appreciate your wonderful support.
Linda

Linda I'm so glad that you'll be able to get a cast of his sweet paw print.

We should all think of getting video of our furry babies, for sure pictures. I think we're in shock for a month after a loss, it's then that it really hits us.
We just decided to enlarge and frame pics of our furry babies. Precious little faces we looked at for 20+ years in the case of two of our cats.
Little hands we held in ours, oh darn cryin again. Sorry.
God Bless you Linda.

And God Bless you too, Carolyn, and all of you. THIS SUCKS!!!! My kitty is just wandering around yowling, and Genny is VERY quiet. She has this huge, kangaroo-like tail that just sweeps things off of counters. Yes, counters, she's mighty big.

Anyway, she sat by me this morning, pushing her head into me, and just the tip of her tail was politely tapping, very unsure of herself. Everybody is in shock, I guess.

Yep, keepsakes for sure, we actually do have a lot of pictures of all our babies, past and present. It isn't as if this is the first time we've lost a wonderful companion, you'd just have to know Bubba to understand how completely unique he was.

Helen, I know. Although, even though we are aware of the short life-expectancy, the vet was just as surprised because Bubba just had his senior profile done in June, and his testing came back with the same results as a 2yr old! Nobody was prepared.

I'll bet everybody's fur-babies are getting a little extra love, huh?

Linda -

So sorry to hear about Bubba.

I agree with you - We love all our animals, but every once in a while, one comes along that you have that "extra" connection with...

I admire you (and all the others) who adopt rescue dogs - they deserve love too!

Valerie

p.s. - I love big dogs too - Great Danes here. Here's my boy at 10 months, just finishing up a Steven King book :) )

Oh Valerie, what a sweetie he is!

Doing much, much better today, I even almost look like myself again!

Bubba had a way with people, I don't really know what it was. He would come to the store sometimes and greet. One girl was just loving him up and said, "I don't even really like dogs, but I love him!" That was what made him so special, he just gathered all living things to him in gentleness and acceptance.

I'm not even crying as I write this. THANKS YOU GUYS!!!!
